I test drove the EDGE and wasnt' swept away, but I sat in it at the LA Autoshow and then sat in basically every other SUV out there. IMO, the EDGE is pretty damn impressive. The only thing in the class I liked as much was the Mazda CX9 (which is too big to be practical, if you live in an urban area). Plus like Cosmos36 mentioned, I did not want something which everyone else has. I see tons of Edge owners. As for Luxury class I see tons of X5, Q7, Cayenne, RX350 & GL350. I only see a few MKX around here so I do not blend in the crowd when out and about. He parked next to mine, and spent some time looking it over before coming inside. This is the only Blue one I have seen since buying mine. Cosmos36 Posted November 30, 2016 Report Share Posted November 30, 2016 I've never owned a Lincoln prior to my MKX purchase, but continued thinking on the thread topic caused me to recall that my widowed mother purchased a used 1948 Lincoln Conti Coupe with a V12 engine circa 1953 that I, as a teenager, thought was the most prestigious, beautiful car in the world. Perhaps that influenced me to explore the marque and buy the MKX. Who knows where this may lead? While the MKX can't possibly compare with a Conti of yesteryear, I can at least find satisfaction with viewing the Lincoln name on another car in my stable. Timmer Posted November 30, 2016 Report Share Posted November 30, 2016 I had a Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer that I loved. Problem-free for many years. Couldn't of been happier. Didn't want the 3rd row seating now standard in Explorers, so I decided the Edge would be comparable and just about right, size wise. As I was loading up an Edge with all the whistles and bells that I wanted, the salesperson suggested that I was" trying to turn an Edge into a Lincoln MKX." He was right... In the end, and considering all of the expensive electronics stuff that could break and need replacing, it was the Lincoln 4 year / 50,000 bumper to bumper warranty (Compared to Ford's 3 year / 36,000) that sealed the deal for me. The 22-way massaging seats and Revel audio system were (and are) incredible as well. So it ended up being a fully loaded MKX Reserve... elijahbird7 Posted November 30, 2016 Report Share Posted November 30, 2016 Long history of Lincolns in my family. 53 Capri Coupe was the first one I remember, then a 56 Premiere Coupe, then several GM brands, then a 77 Mark V and the 88 Town Car my Mom still owns at age 98. I had 3 new Mark VII's, a Mark III, a 77 Versailles as a winter driver, and the 79 Mark V I have now...also several F-150's and Mustangs and Thunderbirds over the years with none ever having any issues, so Ford/Lincoln have always been good cars for me. hienej Posted December 3, 2016 Report Share Posted December 3, 2016 I wish I had not bought my 2016 MKX and kept my 2012 Edge. I have had nothing but problems, upon delivery the passenger door had to be repainted because of a scratch, one rim had a gouge in it, it wandered all over the road like an old international pickup. The ride is like sitting in a rocking chair sideways. They fixed the steering problem and the cosmetic problems but the ride is not as good as the Edge. Now I need to take it back in because you need to be within 30' of the MKX for the remote start to work. Why did I trade in my Edge??? I googled local used MKC's and MKX and went right then to look and ended up purchasing a new MKX. I love this car. Comfortable, stylish and for the money a good buy. I was looking at the Edge Sport at the 2015 LA auto show, but had an issue with head room with the moonroof. I mentioned to my wife that there was a Lincoln equivalent. Well between my head room issue (almost impossible to find Edge Sport with 401 and without moonroof) and my wife's not liking a black interior (and more interested in status symbol than I am), we were leaning towards the Lincoln. I found that the San Diego Lincoln dealer had almost every color so we went by the dealer on our way to the San Diego auto show to check crossovers again. Since we couldn't find a mostly loaded MKX Reserve with our preferred color (Allure Blue [needs to be seen in person, brochure and internet cannot properly represent] and interior [preferences for light color]) we ordered one in January. We received it in mid-March and currently have about 16K miles. I love the 22 way seats, although the seat back cooling is "weak" at best. 400 to 500 mile driving days were comfortable. Passing on a 2 lane road at 7,000+ feet near Lake Tahoe with the 2.7 EcoBoost. was drama free. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I was all set to pull the trigger on a loaded '16 Edge Sport, to the point where I was willing to accept the dealer's ok, but not spectacular deal but asked for a day to think about it (hoping the dealer would budge a little more). My dad has an MKZ and was pestering me to check out Lincolns, but I thought they were out of my price range. I drove an MKC - it was nice but smaller than I wanted, so I started looking for a used '16 MKX. That was when I found a new '16 MKX Reserve (my salesman's demo w/ 1700 miles) w/ everything the Edge had + Revel, for $70/month less than the Edge (lease payments). Icing on the cake is that the Ford dealer wanted my trade + $500 cash down. Lincoln dealer gave me the car plus a check for $1100. The Edge is a nice car and I'm sure I would have been very happy had I ended up with it. But in my opinion there's no comparison between the Edge and MKX when it comes to interior and ride comfort. Yes, 2.7 and 20" wheels (and all weather floor mats). The only thing thing I wish it had was the cargo cover, but I can pick one of those up easy enough.
