  1. Back on the topic of how sweet the 2.7 is, after 2 years and 45,000 mile I still really enjoy it and have had no engine issues. There is one particularly steep grade on a road that I use occasionally where I set the cruise on 70 and on the way down it first brakes, then down shifts until the engine is turning about 4,000 RPM. On the way up with the same cruise control setting there is no down shift. I have a friend who has a 2017 5.7 Hemi Ram 1500 who did not believe that 2.7 liters would pull that hill without a down shift, since his truck does down shift, so I showed him and he is a believer now. When my wife gets a 3.7 MKX loaner when our car goes in for regular service, she always comments about the difference in power.
  2. Last weekend I needed to remove the wheels to check the brakes. Last service the dealer report came back that brake pads were in the "yellow". I needed to determine what that meant. I think somewhere along the way the dealer started paying attention to the 162 ft-lbs of torque for the lug nuts. I used my 1/2 inch impact and noticed movement of the lug nut but they weren't coming off. When I finally got them off i noticed that they were the type that had an outer shell of something like thick sheet metal over a more solid nut. I had the same type of lugs on an '85 Dodge van. They were a pain until I finally replaced them all with solid lug nuts. I plan to do the same with this one. I don' want to go through that again.
  3. I have a 2016 Reserve with the stock 20" rims, with the Hankooks. We had a non-repairable puncture at around 16K miles so 1 new tire was added based on a separate windshield/dent/tire warranty. But the prepaid maintenance did not rotate the tires on that size because of a size difference and AWD.At 31,000 miles I replaced the Hankooks with Michelin Premiere LTX. I have about 10K miles and have no issues. I don't know how long they will last but with a 55,000 mile warranty I know I will either get the miles or an adjustment on the next set.
  4. Just got the car back from the dealer. They replaced the windshield without issue.
  5. I was prepping our March build 2016 MKX for a weekend trip and I was cleaning the windshield when i noticed some bubbles along the top edge of the front windshield. Actually, there were so many bubbles that I would guess the count at between 40 and 50. I had limited time so I could not get up on a ladder to determine for certain if it is delamination or bubbles in the glue/sealer. Has anyone else noticed this on their windshield?
  6. All three FOBs are acting normally. All of the normal responses occur as you approach the vehicle. It unlocks and starts all in the normal way. The odd part is all 3 happening at the same time. I asked here because it will be a few weeks before it goes in for service and I don't have the free time to check before then.
  7. Has anyone seen this in the left display area: Key Battery low Replace soon This message happened to all 3 key fobs within a matter of a few days. Either Lincoln has synchronized key fob battery discharge or there is something odd going on with the MKX. I haven't had time to take it in to ask about it but will do so in a few weeks when it goes in for the next service.
  8. I just got home from a trip to Nova Scotia, where I had an April 2017 manufactured Ford Edge rental car. I noticed that both windshield wipers parked in the center. My 2016 MKX parks the wipers at the end of the sweep towards the passenger side. Is this a 2017 change for both Edge and MKX, or an Edge only change, or does Canada get different wiper operation from the U.S.? Since the Edge is manufactured in both left and right hand drive configurations I can see where this would mean only one system would be needed for both locations of the steering wheel.
  9. Have any of you with AWD watched the screen on the left side of the instrument panel (I forget which sub-menu selects it). At least the display indicates that AWD is enabled for all acceleration from a stop. Is this real or propaganda, I don't know.
  10. I posted before about an experience I had traveling to Arizona from California during daylight savings last year. As soon as I crossed the border my MKX updated the clock and moved the destination in the navigation an hour further away. So the clock understands time zones, but not daylight savings or states that do not participate in daylight savings.
  11. If you have questions about the seriousness of Ford's 2.7, look at the use of Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) in the engine block. Do a little reading about the use of CGI in diesel, NASCAR and NHRA engines. My dealer is a Ford/Lincoln dealer in Orange County (south of LA) and has been extremely attentive. Unless they have changed, the MDX is a 3 row, while the MKX is a 2 row. The appearance of the MDX was a turn off for me, but that is subjective. I have a 2.7 AWD that I ordered and recently had a 3.7 FWD loaner. The difference was dramatic, but I live in a hilly area. The 3.7 was not only less responsive but felt like it was working much harder. If you are serious about the MDX, don't test drive a 2.7 MKX. When I was looking to buy, most 3.5 to 3.7 normally aspirated V6 crossovers did 0 to 60 in 8 to 9 seconds. The 2.7 does it in the low 6s. That is 2 to 3 seconds faster. My wife has something of a lead foot. She told me that at a traffic light she was questioned by another driver about what engine it had. She told them that it was "the little one" and the actual size could be seen on the back of the vehicle. When the light turned green they actually dropped back to see which engine it had. Even with my wife's "spirited" driving, with about 70% city driving over 18,000 miles the on board calculation is 20.3 MPG.
  12. Before I decide to get a Lincoln MKX, I was reading several 2015 Edge Sport forums. On at least one of them there was a thread about a customized ECU program complete with dyno results. You might investigate the 2015+ Edge Sport forums.
  13. The 2.7 EcoBoost is what drew me in. I was looking at the Edge Sport at the 2015 LA auto show, but had an issue with head room with the moonroof. I mentioned to my wife that there was a Lincoln equivalent. Well between my head room issue (almost impossible to find Edge Sport with 401 and without moonroof) and my wife's not liking a black interior (and more interested in status symbol than I am), we were leaning towards the Lincoln. I found that the San Diego Lincoln dealer had almost every color so we went by the dealer on our way to the San Diego auto show to check crossovers again. Since we couldn't find a mostly loaded MKX Reserve with our preferred color (Allure Blue [needs to be seen in person, brochure and internet cannot properly represent] and interior [preferences for light color]) we ordered one in January. We received it in mid-March and currently have about 16K miles. I love the 22 way seats, although the seat back cooling is "weak" at best. 400 to 500 mile driving days were comfortable. Passing on a 2 lane road at 7,000+ feet near Lake Tahoe with the 2.7 EcoBoost. was drama free.
  14. I have the 20" Hankook's with just under 15,000 miles and no sign of unusual wear. I don't have a tread depth gauge to measure the actual depth, and even if I did there can bee a difference in wear rate as the tread depth changes.
  15. This past weekend I drove from Southern California to Arizona. At the border the clock advanced by an hour. California is in the Pacific time zone and Arizona is on Mountain time. But, Arizona does not observe daylight savings and California does. So, from mid-March through early November they are on the same time. Another interesting aspect of this was the fact that the arrival time on the navigation screen changed when crossing into Arizona. If the system is smart enough to recognize a time zone change shouldn't it have made the adjustment to the arrival time once it determined a time zone was going to be crossed when the destination was entered? On the return trip it did just the opposite and subtracted an hour from the current time and the destination time. This is on a Sync 3 system.
