mightyjj
I have a 2016 MKX Reserve with the standard seats and like them. However I ordered a 2019 Nautilus Reserve and opted for the 22-way power seats-- BIG Mistake I discovered after driving the vehicle for 2 days. I don't know if anyone else has encountered this issue. It might seem minor to some, but I hated it. The strip of leather that is sewn down the middle of the back of the seat, which is sewn on top of the other leather and the seam is turned under and stitched down, DUG into my back. Very annoying. Reminded me of getting something inside your shoe or a tag in the back of a shirt. Fortunately my dealer took it back and ordered me another one without those seats. I really liked the way you could extend the bottom of the seat, but I couldn't tolerate that stripe. Also, it did not seem to support my shoulders very well either. So something to think about if you are considering it.
NOTMY911
It did at first but It soften over time. My biggest disappointment is even at low it seem to be be a "rough" massage.
Bad tone
I did the reverse; had a 2016 with the 22 ways and it was acceptable but I didn't really like them. So I ordered my Nautilus with the standard seats and am much happier. That was good of the dealer to allow you to reorder anaother. If the standard seats had the bottom extension adjustment they would be perfect for me. mightyjj and Gurgeh
walkabout
I have to say that, on every car forum I've ever been on since the dawn of car forums, there is a thread like this. Some drivers hate the seats, find them brutally uncomfortable for one reason or another while other drivers love the seats. I don't think that suggests one side is wrong or right -it just shows how everyone has a different body. I never had a problem with the "stripe" on my seat (2016 with the 22 way). Don't even know it is there. But, I find the bottoms way to narrow (and I'm not a big guy) and the bolsters dig into the sides of my leg even at their widest setting. I don't hate the seats but I also don't find them especially comfy.
Cosmos36
Yesterday, I inspected the Nautilus front seats at the Portland International Auto Show to see if any improvements were made by Lincoln to the MKX seats often criticized as being too narrow. Visually the seats appeared to have 'flattened' bolsters...testing them seemed to offer a feeling of sitting 'on' them rather than 'in' them. They certainly were not any wider or more comfortable in my view. In passing, I believe Lincoln needs to improve the Nautilus' interior materials & design, especially the Spartan door panels, to be competitive. A locked Aviator was also on display. A major impression of the Aviator's interior was the intrusive height of the center touch screen to peripheral vision of both the driver and passenger...much more disconcerting IMO than any other upright screen of any luxury vehicle at the show. The Aviator's horizontal themed dash appeared 1970's GM retro (Ugh!) to me, but the overall interior design & materials were attractively upscale. I have no need of a larger 3-row vehicle, but the Aviator will probably be a winner.

I too found the MKX seats a little too narrow (esp. the 22-way), but found the bottom seat bolsters on the Nautilus a little more flattened out to make the standard seats, to me, more comfortable. As Walkabout notes, seat comfort is very specific to the individual. I expect we'll see Aviator-type improvements in the Naut's interior when it gets redesigned in a couple or three years. Agree on the Aviator. I'm going out on a limb here and predicting that for the second half of the year (assuming no delays in launch) the Aviator will become Lincoln's top volume seller, despite the higher price point, though it won't necessarily stay that way in 2020, with the late 2019 launch of the all-new Corsair at a much more affordable price in the very hot compact crossover segment. MKXMark
I find the standard seats in our '17 to be very comfortable, just the right combination of softness and support. Regarding the Aviator, I just hope Lincoln's class-leading SUVs lead to class-leading sedans!
walkabout
Btw, the Nautilus at the LA trade show did NOT have the 22 way seats. It was a bizarre combo of a black label with standard seats. Assuming the same show vehicles are being used, the seats at the show would have been the standard seats. Walkabout, that might be a bizarre combo, but it is what I ordered. Now that I think of it I'm sure it is a very unusual combo as my dealer said that he did a quick look at what other Black Label dealers then had in stock (looking to see if a swap might be quicker) and all dealer stock then had the 22-ways in their BLs. But to me, the stock seats were more comfortable. Again, seat comfort is very particular to the individual. Bravo27

The sedans appear to have been cancelled or at least put on hold for a few years while they develop more utilities and hybrids and BEVs. It just seemed like am off combo for the car show. Usually, they want all the bells and whistles in that situation. Houtex
I just had a loaner Nautilus for ten days and found the standard seats to be very comfortable. They are plush and supportive. Everyone I took for a ride agreed. I hated having to return the car and get into my MKZ seats with massage etc. My experience with the seats that have the massage feature is that they are too firm. I know MKZ seats are inferior to Nautilus seats with or without massage feature, but my next Lincoln will likely have standard seats. I did love the Nautilus ride and will consider in the future, but probably will wait for next major redesign. Gurgeh

But I too found the standard seats more comfortable than the "ultra" seats, especially with the softer leather that comes with BL.
walkabout
A few months ago, there was a rumor here that Lincoln was going to alter the 22-way adjustable seats by making the button bolsters less prominent (so the bolsters don't dig into your leg quite that much). I'm pretty sure (but not certain). That seems to be way less of an issue in the current model year. I mentioned to the salesguy that this had been an issue for me - he laughed and said he'd heard that complaint many times.
thisguy159
Speaking of seats wonder if the fixed the cooling issue with the seats because that have sucked always. Just drove expedition and gmc Acadia they have wonderful cooling especially gmc.

shoeguy
I am also curious as to how effective the cooling is , as well as the heated seats in the Nautilus . My 16 MKX is useless for heating , as it takes forever to warm up, not as bad the cooling. There was also a TSB out for this for the 16 year which I did have done. It really did little in terms of improvement.

My only complaint about the "22 way seat" is that even at Low, the massage is kind of hard.

I can't answer on cooling (only got my Nautilus in February -- ask me again in the midst of the Washington DC's infamous hot, hazy and humid summer) and also can't answer on the 22-way seat option, but wife loves a strongly heated seat in winter and I can confirm that our standard seats pass the happy wife test. The hottest seats we ever had were in a 2000MY VW Passat; those things were scalding. The worst were in an Infiniti G35, a car that treated heat in the seats like drivers do stop signs in the District. But these seats come in second to the Passat. I have a somewhat different standard for cooled seats. I don't need the seats to actually get cold, only to bring them down quickly to the cabin's target air temperature to avoid a sticky back. MKXMark
The non-cooled seats in our MKX heat up nice and hot quickly. The cooled seats in the MKZ on the other hand take 20 minutes or so to heat.
thisguy159
I have no issue with heating just cooling ... luckily I found a workaround but still.
walkabout
Yeah, I'm not sure what the heat issue is in some cars, mine get toasty. I've only had few loaners that had heated seats and they were toasty as well. Not a Ford issue. I say in the base and 22 way seats last week. The bottom bolsters are the same in both cars. Found their bottom seat bolsters too tall and uncomfortable. But the standard Nautilus seats, at least with the very soft Black Label leather, I find extremely comfortable. They did make very minor changes from the standard MKX seats. The bottom bolsters are now 1/4" shorter and I believe a bit narrower, giving both more flat seating area and less pushing up against your hips. I had test driven the MKX and decided against it because of the seats. I had placed a Range Rover Velar factory order but when the Nautilus came out I figured I'd give it one more test drive and found that, for me, those minor seat changes made all the difference. I canceled the Velar order and placed a Nautilus factory order instead. But there is nothing in a vehicle that is more subjective and particular to the individual than seating comfort.
