While I generally agree with you about that engine, it seems underpowered for a big heavy vehicle like the Nautilus. That said, most of us are spending so much time stuck in traffic that it may not matter.

It is about liability. Every company interprets the liability differently so the all use different mechanisms. Some car companies lock you completely out of the touchscreen once the car is moving and others make you agree to some nag screen beforehand. Mazda just announced that they are eliminating a touchscreen for those reasons. I've never used Apple but those kind of issues do pop up in Android auto. For example, Waze (which is a Google company) locks you out after a few touches if the car is moving. None of that relates to"bugs" or the lack of a mature tech company. It's all planned responses to threats of litigation. I also second MKXMARK, I've had zero (zero as in not even once) bugs in the lincoln way app or in sync itself. The issue above is easily resolvable through the instructions in this thread. I have a few significant complaints about the cabin tech and I think that, overall, Lincoln customer support is a total joke. I will not be leasing another for those reasons. But, I think your criticism of the updates is unfair (no disrespect intended).

Those are different issues. The automatic updates if sync in the vehicle itself are very, very rare (I've had ONE in the entire time I've owned the car) and bug free. Automatic updates of phone apps are relatively frequent and Lincoln would not be the first company to induce bugs that way. I will say though that I've had zero issues with my Samsung Note 9. The updates have not caused any issues whatsoever.

That's a resolvable problem but I don't remember how I did it. NOTMY911 instructions may do it. I know I was getting that pop up quite frequently (and, yeah, it was annoying). Its been months since I've seen it though. Issue is 100% resolved for me.

Hud is available on many vehicles, basically all of the competition; volvo,lexus, acura - even Mazda. It's become a very common option.

Have sales really "surged"? (Not disagreeing with you, asking). When I leased my MKX, I kept hearing how it was Lincoln's best seller, but then the actual sales rates compared to other vehicles in the class (like the RX350 and Xt5) were dismal. My guess is that the sales of the Nautilus are up compared to the MKX (as should happen right after a refresh) but otherwise pretty bad. Out here in LA, I've yet to see a single one on the streets. Every once in a while I see the 2016 forward gen of MKX but even that is rare. Lincoln just isn't selling a lot of vehicles these days.

Don't get me wrong. Your reasoning makes 100% sense to me. It just seemed like am off combo for the car show. Usually, they want all the bells and whistles in that situation.

Btw, the Nautilus at the LA trade show did NOT have the 22 way seats. It was a bizarre combo of a black label with standard seats. Assuming the same show vehicles are being used, the seats at the show would have been the standard seats.

I have to say that, on every car forum I've ever been on since the dawn of car forums, there is a thread like this. Some drivers hate the seats, find them brutally uncomfortable for one reason or another while other drivers love the seats. I don't think that suggests one side is wrong or right -it just shows how everyone has a different body. I never had a problem with the "stripe" on my seat (2016 with the 22 way). Don't even know it is there. But, I find the bottoms way to narrow (and I'm not a big guy) and the bolsters dig into the sides of my leg even at their widest setting. I don't hate the seats but I also don't find them especially comfy.

Lincoln can't void a warranty if you disable a feature. They could only refuse to pay for a problem that was directly caused by your alteration. That's pretty unlikely to occur, in this case.

Cafpaf - I don't have either problem with my 2016. I do have some problems, but not those. Sounds like your dealer is blowing smoke up your pant leg.

My 2.7 2016 also does nothing like that. Shifts are smooth as silk and silent.

All cars have quirks, no matter how much they cost. That said, the six speed in the earlier years never did this

I've never had this problem in my 2016. The stereo does tend to be on e when I pull in though.

I think they can do that now. Won't be covered by your health insurance though.

The LEDs do nothing like that. I think they're really effective regardless.

I was expecting some little changes. In the mkz, the last restyle had a few modest interior upgrades, like the bottom half of the doors got soft touch surfaces. As for the new grille, I'm less happy about it then akirby. I don't like it much. But, I'd also be lying if I said I really cared. It's not a positive change but also not something that would give me any hesitation whatever. I still like the looks of the vehicle overall.

I'm talking purely about material quality, where the Lincoln is a notch below -several notches in some cases. It's not an ergonomic mess like some of the competition though. I think some of the folk from Acura and Volvo might want to borrow some ideas from Ford Lincoln. Those goofy transmission buttons make about 800 times more sense than the bizarre electronic shifters in the competition.

Personally, I'm disappointed by the Nautilus. There are zero changes inside the vehicle. I was expected at least some upgrades in material quality. At the auto show a few weeks ago, I sat in the new Nautilus and virtually every vehicle in the class. Nautilus interior didn't even compete well with Mazda and Hyundai, let alone Audi et al. Purely subjective, but I liked the looks of the earlier generation better. It's not a huge difference (because not much has changed) but I'm not a fan of those hideous side badges or the more formal nose. That's not to say it doesn't have strengths. When you play with every infotainment system on the market, you'll quickly learn that there is little out there which competes with Sync 3. I tried out the new RDX system, for example. So complex and unintuitive, I couldn't imagine using it while in motion. Ford's former corporate partners, Mazda and Volvo, also had notably weak systems. Also, a lot of the comparison vehicles (comparison in price, not size) rely on FI 4-cyl engines, which require premium and lack the driveabikity of the 2.7T.

I saw the Nautilus at the auto show Friday night. From an interior perspective, zero changed. The iffy material choices are still there. Oddly, the Lincoln exhibit had a Black label with the stock seats (not the 22 way) I walked over to the Mazda exit later and the CX5 had way better interior materials.

I have the 22 way in my 2016. I mostly like them except the rear end (which is really tight for me, and I'm not a big guy). There was a rumor posted here that Lincoln was going to address the issue in the 2019. The LA auto show is in a week, so I can check it out then. Enjoy the new ride!
