Yeah, I checked it out and it's real. The letter was from a testing lab that Ford contracts to in the LA area. I called and confirmed. I got the letter mainly because of where I live. Moot point because I declined.

I got a letter from a Ford contractor saying that they wanted to "borrow" my vehicle for 10 days for emissions tests of some kind. The letter include an offer of $200 and loaner vehicle (along with a free tank of gas at each end). I'm going to ignore the letter because I am dependent on my SUV for weekend activities (need a SUV for the cycling and hiking). Also, the dealers out here in LA have a history of keeping my car a lot longer than needed for every little issue. Just curious if anybody else received the same notice.

I've used then. They were ok. I didn't have any problems. Just insist on an oem replacement

The problem people are concerned about is that the 21 inch tires are bundled in desired packages.

I think you are overstating the significance of tire size. The only time I cracked a wheel was with a 17 inch tire. No problems with the 21 inches although I think tires that wide are silly.

I have the 21 inch wheels. I still think the ride is fine. I'm general, I think wide low profile tours are pointless and impractical. The 21" have not been hard to live with but they offer little benefit and exact a modest penalty.

Gurgeh, I don't think the seats will be wider. My understanding is that they are simply going to make the bolsters less pronounced. Imo, the bottoms of the 22 seat are ridiculously narrow. A few competitors (like the Lexus NX) have similar issues. I like the road dynamics of the Lincoln quite a bit. I have other concerns, but to each his own. Audi is a fine choice and will be on my shopping list.

My lease is up next summer. I'm considering the Nautilus. But, I'll need to see some major improvements to offset my concerns regarding lousy customer support.

Part of this discussion is hard because size can be defined different ways. The Nautilus is only 2 or 3 inches longer than the RDX but I'll be anything that it will "feel" bigger. The RX350 is longer than the Lincoln and RDX but had less room inside than either (one of the reasons I hate it). The Lincoln really competes with the XT5, mostly. And, to a lesser extent, the RX350. Personally, I'd prefer a slightly smaller vehicle. It's just that going down a size means not having that sweet 2.7T.

Meanwhile, I'm just dying to see the Nautilus. The updates may not be a paradigm shift, but all sound worthy.

I really don't believe Walt actually purchased the MKX. The last weeks he was posting various wild financing scenarios that would have made no sense if he had already put down a deposit and special ordered the vehicle. Point taken about the 10 active posters though! I think that is part of the issue. I was on a BMW forum and there was lots of flame wars there. Lots more posters (and a lot more passionate about their rides than Lincoln owners, IMO). So, more fights.

Honestly,I've been on many car forums over the years, and this is easily the most friendly. Maybe that's because Lincoln owners tend to be a somewhat older group than BMW or Acura owners, but all of the posters here are informed and polite car people. No complaints from me. We've had two disgruntled types who were down on the MKX and Walt, but otherwise, everybody has been great. I don't buy vehicles based on who else owns them, but if I did, I'd be a Lincoln guy for life.
