Lincoln Website

Went online to the site, selected "Get a Brochure", entered 2019 Nautilus. The page is showing two photos of a Nautilus, and then clicked on the choice, "Download"...and what do you get, a 2018 MKX. Ok?

Since I sent the request on the Lincoln site to get them to send me an email with the Nautilus Brochure, on Saturday, and have still not received it, I stopped at my Lincoln Dealer today to pick up a Brochure. Spent some time talking to a Salesman and then the Sales Manager. I was hoping to see a Nautilus in Diamond Blue, but they only had one in Rhapsody Blue on their lot. But I did get an answer to whether they would switch my current 21" Polished Aluminum wheels on my MKX to a new Nautilus and switch the new tires to my current 21" wheels, and they said they could do that, so when spring gets here, I will have to decide if I want to make the trade or not.

The multifunction displays (phone, audio, nav and settings) are indeed white on black. There are colors used on the temp and fuel gauges, lane assist indication, and on the speedo if you choose the eco indication mode. I quite like it, and with the new steering wheel button setup you can get a lot of info and change settings very easily.

It is going on 2 weeks now that I took the 2nd choice to request the Nautilis Brochure by email...still no response.

Perhaps Lincoln has delayed sending a brochure until they can prepare one displaying a Nautilus in the Diamond Blue color. Kidding of course.

When I was at the dealer yesterday getting my Passenger side headlight unit replaced, I asked the salesman if they have a Nautilus with the Medium Slate interior, since I have never seen that color. He said the white Navigator on the showroom floor had it. Looked good, and as we were discussing that, the lady from the welcoming desk told us a white Nautilus had just arrived from shipment that had that interior. So, since I have had 2 now with the Cappuccino interior, if I trade this spring, I think I will go with the Medium Slate.

Another amusing thing from yesterday. A discussion of the 2020 Corsair came up with some of the higher end Service Manager and Sales Manager. They were talking about the history of that name. I just said quickly, "Edsel". They looked at me like I was crazy. My brother bought a 1959 Edsel new, and still has it. The model name is Corsair....

There's a rumor going around (I heard it from someone who works at Ford) that Lincoln made a last minute decision to change the name. We'll find out soon if the rumor is true.

Makes me think of Corvairs.

The Corvair name was an awkward combo (aka portmanteau) of Corvette & Bel Air Chevrolet models. In the mid-1960s I had access to a university carpool stocked with several Corvairs. I always reserved one for off road access to southern Indiana 'moonshine' country (Brown County) when working some forest research plots. It was a great vehicle IMO, a pleasure to drive. Too bad Ralph Nader killed it before it was fully developed.

It's not to be confused with the gull-winged Corsair fighter of World War II fame flown by Pappy Boyington's Black Sheep squadron in the Pacific theater and later in the 1950s Korean conflict. I became acquainted with both Pappy and the F4U at an antique fly-in many years ago.
