Ordering a new 2018.9 Lincoln MKX 3.7L V6 Black Label... FWD vs. AWD and others?

Looks like Ford has extended production of 2018 Lincoln MKX for one extra month, so the last day I can order a 2018 is 05/04/2018 as opposed to 03/29/2018 written earlier. Phew...  :) More time for me to decide on which color to order (I'm still unsure).

Oh joy......

Factory rebates are increasing as well. It was $2,000 during February, now it's $2,250 for March. I'm hoping to see $4,000 cashback by August 2018 when my MKX order arrives to dealer.

The suspense is killing me. White, blue. What's wrong about lying on taxes. And how did you find out?

I've decided to lease, and then buy-out lease later, so I don't need to worry about tax anymore. Thanks for bringing it up.

I have a '16 Reserve with every option, and LOVE THEM ALL.   AWD, Adaptive cruise, Revel ultimate, 2.7 litre, driver assist, 20" wheels, massaging 22 position seats,

AAdaptive steering,  has it all.  COLOUR is Luxe with parchment interior. It was in stock, and even has the trailer tow package.  Wasn't cheap, but ya can't take it with you.

I think what he meant was since he’s leasing he doesn’t have to lie about where he lives to reduce taxes and cheat the government. Of course that will still be an issue when he buys it out at the end of the lease but that’s a future problem....

Leasing doesn't get you out of taxes. It's just adjusted to reflect the lease $ instead of ownership. Since lease and then buyout is the most expensive way to buy a vehicle, his total tax hit will ultimately be higher that way.

His tax rate was super high where he resides and that’s the tax rate that would have been used had he purchased the vehicle. By leasing Ford pays the taxes which is presumably a much lower rate.

Also there is no choice that he has to make about what address to report for the sales form.

Do you have enhanced security package option? I'm unsure if it's worth the extra $60. Any issues with alarm?

Right on... Keep up the good work.

I would be shocked if the taxes were not included in the lease. When you rent a home to someone, do you not include the taxes & vig in addition to the line?

BEST THREAD EVER.

There's lots more stories I like to discuss, but the moderator has restricted my freedom of speech here.  :baby: All discussions I see about taxes will be ignored now.

Yes, you still pay the taxes but the tax is based on where the buyer resides. If I live in an area with a 14% tax rate but Ford only pays 7% then the tax on the lease is 7% less than the tax on my purchase. Therefore you end up paying less tax on the lease.

I am leasing a red mkx. I like the color ok. But, if I lease another, it would probably be blue. Color is a personal choice, but I'm kind of meh on the choice I made.

"Meh"? So, red color bores you after a few months? If you live in Los Angeles, we can meet up together someday in life, and chat about colors.

You pay the local tax on the monthly payment. Essentially, you are taxed at the state rate on the depreciation. The tax issue is about local license and registration fees. You pay that whether you own or lease.

Paying out a lease will cost you considerably more taxes over time. First, you'll be taxed on depreciation. Then, you'll get a tax hit when you buy the car (which Ford will charge more for then market value,a reality built into the lease to start).

Here's a simple explanation:

The op's plan makes about as much sense as ordering two cars at once, or picking a color based on the salesperson's advice.

I think we all agree with that.

And I think you’re right about the taxes now that I think about it.
