cafpaf
For the time being, another question. I am finally getting ready to order a new MKX. I think that I am suffering from TMI disease. That is Too Much Information. In any case I am about 95% sure that I have settled on the 3.7 engine. I have driven both and for my driving while I see the difference I do not find it to be phenomenal. In addition to the above I am ordering the Climate Package and the Driver Awareness Package. So,,,,here is my question. Once I get the vehicle I will be ordering Weather Tech liners for the front and most probably the cargo area. Considering that, do you think that I should also order the Cargo Utility Package. I would like to hear from anyone who has that package and what real utility there is regarding it's use. Thanks for the help.
Cosmos36
I have the Cargo Utility Package. (1) I like the added aesthetics of the scuff plate, find the cargo net useful to keep things from rolling around & preventing items from intruding into the hatch area/preventing hatch closure, (2) bins, etc....meh, (3) like the reversible floor mat for sound-proofing & aesthetics on one side, rubber utility on other side, (4) like the 110 volt outlet for tailgate partying, and like the removable tonneau cover for security, albeit the darkened hatch & rear doors glass functions equally well. Paid $325 (invoice) which I considered reasonable.
elijahbird7
Mine has both Cargo Utility and Cargo Accessory Packages. The only thing I really use with the Utility is the cargo cover that you can pull back to hide whatever you have stored under it. I wanted the Accessory package for the rubber protection cover that goes on the top of the rear bumper so paint won't be scratched when you load things in there. My 2014 MKX didn't have that, and a car wash guy ran a brush along there and scratched the paint. I then ordered a cover and installed it myself. cafpaf
Fyi, some of you may already know this, but I found a site for Ford parts that has everything and are less expensive than the dealer or the Ford home site. It is Ford Parts Giant.com. While they are not affiliated with Ford their parts are Ford OEM and they are significantly less expensive. I found them while I was searching for things such as Splash Gurards. One interesting item is a set of four (front and back) floor liners for $99.96 and a Cargo liner for $82.59. When I priced items like these in Weather Tech the liners for the front and rear are $179.90 and the Cargo liner is $119.95 plus shipping and tax. I can't tell you about shipping charges for the things from Ford Parts Giant, but they do not charge tax unless you are in California. Also, the items I mentioned above from Ford Parts Giant have the MKX logo.
Cosmos36
Ford Parts Giant (FPG) is not accredited by BBB, on-line reviews by customers range from "horrible" to "crooks"...a California vendor in business for 6 years. Edit: As an afterthought, I returned to the FPG website to faux order just 4 of the several items included in the MKX OEM Cargo Utility Package in order to compare pricing of purchasing the items individually in the aftermarket vs the OEM package price. It came as no surprise to find that the OEM package pricing was superior to purchasing items later after delivery of a vehicle. Disclaimer: I don't have a dog in the FPG reviews, just reporting what I found in several online websites. cafpaf
Cosmas 36, I must apologize to you an to all. I read horrible AFTER I posted the above. Needless to say, anyone who is considering using these folks should do more research than I did initially and proceed with caution.
enigma-2
There is a Ford/Lincoln dealer of the Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX forum named Levittown Ford. They sell at dealer pricing. They also sponsor that forum. http://www.Levittown...SuperCenter.com
akirby
Benny at Levittown is great. Helped me out finding some trim parts for daughter's focus.
cafpaf
The vehicle is on order. However, I forgot to order the Cargo accessories that I wanted. Specifically I wanted a cargo net and the cargo cover. The sales guy tells me that he will take care of it and assures me that he will have them there for me. Let's hope that he keeps his word. My question is this. What storage compartments come standard under the rear floor covering with the spare tire? Can anyone get me a picture of this area? Please remember, I want to see what is standard. Thanks for all of your help.
elijahbird7
There seems to be a little confusion about the two packages earlier in this discussion. Cargo Accessory Pkg has only 2 things: Rubber Cargo Mat and Rear Bumper Anti-Scatch cover. Cargo Utility Package has these things: Lift gate Scuff Plate, Cargo Net and Chrome tie down hooks, Molded Plastic Storage Bin and Spare Tire Vanity Cover under cargo floor, Cargo Compartment Reversible Mat, Power converter 110V Outlet in rear of center console, and Interior Cargo Retractable Cover. Mine has both Packages.
Cosmos36
My interpretation of cafpaf's post is that he doesn't want either of the complete OEM cargo packages, he just wants the (1) cargo net & (2) cargo cover (aka security shade/cargo tonneau) which are available as individually purchased items. cafpaf
Thanks for the information. Cosmos is correct I just want to get the cargo net and the pull over shade. I also want to know if there are any small compartments under the floor with the spare tire. It is the storage bins that have me confused. What exactly are they and are there some sort of bins in every vehicle not just with the Cargo Utility Package?
walkabout
Those bins are only there with the package. Nice to have but I could live without then.
Cosmos36
I have never used the package storage bins...too inconvenient to access for daily or emergency use. With an ebony interior, I just bought an inexpensive matching black plastic egg-milk crate and tuck it forward out of sight under the cargo tonneau. It's perfect for storing an extra quart of oil, a small fire extinguisher, some emergency food/water, blanket, knife, flashlight, and some daily use items, e.g. cloth shopping bags, etc.
enigma-2
I believe that on the Edge without the cargo storage option, you get a solid filler either side of the spare tire. FYI you could also buy a new net on Ebay for $11 (item no. 222369245501) and a new cargo shade for $116.60 (item no. 152413044125). May be cheaper than dealer prices. I actually use two nets in Mt MKX to hold groceries. With two nets we can put all the groceries in plastic sacks in the nets and not have the spill all ovet the back on the drive home. (Don't know if the 2017 Edge has two sets of backs or not however). As for the underfloor storage trays, there is one on each side of the spare tire, and a drep as the tire is high. Not much you can store in them as the curve to match the shape of the tire. And as others have stated, inconvenient to use. I store an emergency blanket, hitch ball mount and ball in one side, some rags, gloves and spare cap, gloves and emergency jacket in the other. Not deep enough nor wide enough to be considered as worthwhile storage. Edited February 3, 2017 by enigma-
walkabout
I don't see it as especially useful, but I still like having it. I am an avid cyclist so I keep various tools and supplies for bike there, to get read for long rides. I also have emergency tools in there, and day-to-day items like a pocket packs of tissues, and handiwipes. I For groceries and such, I tend to use a folding cargo carrier. cafpaf
Thank you all for the help. I think tht I have the under floor picture now. I am good with just the net and the shade cover. I am sure that I will think of other things as the time passes prior to delivery. Thanks again.

cafpaf
Well, it did not take long for me to think of another question and to seek your collective advice. My car is currently on order and should be at the dealer sometime between mid to late March or possibly early April. My current Cadillac lease is up in mid June. The dealer is to hold the car until I am ready to pick it up. In April, I will have two payments left on the Cadillac lease so, assuming that the price of the Lincoln does not change, it is my view that at that point it is a break even situation. I can make the two payments and wait until as late as June or I can just pay off the lease and pick the Lincoln up early. Remember, I said assuming the price of the Lincoln does not change. The only way the price could change is if the incentives improve. Currently, there is $500 off the MSRP and I qualify for a military discount of and additional $500. So here is the question. What experience does our collective membership have regarding the Lincoln incentives on an annual basis? Do you think that the general $500 incentive will increase in the second quarter and also has Lincoln had an increase in the military program in May as GM had done for the past several years. While I would like to get the new MKX ASAP, I do not want to do it to my own economic disadvantage. As always thanks for the help and I will look forward to your input. akirby
I don't remember Ford increasing the military discount but it's possible. The only way I think incentives would go up is if inventory levels rise between now and May. Nobody really knows though - incentives are the best kept secret in the automotive world. I am sure that I will think of other things as the time passes prior to delivery. Thanks again. I have a cargo cover and don't really use it. I read that it's probably worthless anyway. The real crooks don't go aimlessly wandering around a parking lot peeking into cars. Too exposed. The sit quietly in a middle of a parking lot, watching for some hapless soul to come out and put their treasures in the trunk (or cargo area). After they leave, they target that specific car. They watch high end cars as those are the people who buy the top merchandise.
punch-card
Cafpaf, There is a thread I started back last spring, Cargo Cover extension and some of the downsides of the Lincoln version. My issue is that it only covers half of the cargo area, but if you look at the Licoln accessory version it appeared (and still does) to be Edge version and it looks to cover from the seat back to the door lift. I ended up having a friend make a cover for me, but the cost was not too far from the Edge price (at least at the time). But I use it all the time especially when traveling. As for the net, I use it occasionally, but truthfully it gets in the way as much as helps Mike Edited February 4, 2017 by punch-card
Cosmos36
cafpaf...If anybody can predict future Lincoln incentives with certainty, they could also reliably predict the next date and magnitude of a San Andreas earthquake. Lincoln's incentive offerings have left me with a very low opinion of their program. Shortly after I ordered my MKX, I had possession of a Lincoln $750 cash coupon received in the mail. The coupon expired while my MKX sat in Seattle awaiting transit of 175 miles to my dealership...the MKX arrived 5 days after the coupon expiration date. Neither Lincoln nor the dealership would consider any concessions in the way of honoring the incentive. Why did I feel cheated? Back in the early days of production when I ordered, dealer inventories of MKXs were nil to nada. Ordering times for receipt of an MKX were 3-4 months minimum. The $750 cash rebate coupon expired 80 days after I received it and as noted, 5 days before I took delivery. Q. Was it Lincon's intention to purposely offer a rebate when dealers had no way to honor it with none-to-few MKXs in inventory and delivery times to customers exceeding the length of the rebate offer? Bah! Edited February 4, 2017 by Cosmos36
