punch-card
Interesting read on Android Auto/CarPlay coming with Sync3 V2.x http://mobilesyrup.com/2016/07/31/ford-sync-3-hands-on-canada/ Timmer
punch-card
So I am going to dredge up this old topic, and I know some of you follow the sync forum, but I read the other day a thread on the Sync Forum that the rumor is that Sync 3 v2 will start rolling out December 2nd. Take it with a horse salt block, but it seems reasonable if Ford is going to meet the end of the year press information. http://fordsyncforum.com/index.php?/topic/5216-sync-3-update/page-3&do=findComment&comment=17587 Edited November 8, 2016 by punch-card mfam16
mfam16
Thanks for update. I would not hold my breath, but it seems logical specially with the msg in the mobile app.
walkabout
The Dec 2 date was somebody saying "a dealer told me." Another poster, who apparently works at a dealer than responded that he hadn't heard anything of that nature. So, I think not holding your breath is prudent. None of us know where you live and it would be hard to find you to revive you after you pass out. mosh00

None of us know where you live and it would be hard to find you to revive you after you pass out. According to the sales person at the dealership. He said with the reserve trim and luxury package, I could hold my breath for 1 yr. Supposedly the reserve has extra oxygen tanks stored on reserve inside the hvac system. He said just look for a green tab that says oxygen. I searched the manual but couldn't find anything on the matter ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Edited November 9, 2016 by mfam16 Timmer and VisionPilot
enigma-2
Believe you put it in the recirculation mode and stomp on the accelerator. The will quickly fill with carbon-flavored oxygen. VisionPilot and Timmer
Timmer
As an iPhone user I was pretty excited about Apple CarPlay. Then I researched it a bit. Now, not so much... Timmer
punch-card
OK guys... Have not tried it or looked at details... but this posting say it was released today.... But when I found the link on the Lincoln site it says that my sync is up to date, but it was last checked on the 3rd.... http://fordsyncforum.com/index.php?/topic/5216-sync-3-update/page-3&do=findComment&comment=17621 https://owner.lincoln.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html as for the other subject, I will just open my sunroof for more carbon laden oxygen, no oxygen tanks needed.... I get the exact same thing, last updated on the 3rd, but the version listed on the site says I have v1.0 installed on July 16. Is there a way to force the update? punch-card
We can only assume that they released the new version for all platforms, maybe they only did Ford, or just down to models..... who knows, but it at least looks like there is progress, if the poster did not post bogus data I get the exact same thing, last updated on the 3rd, but the version listed on the site says I have v1.0 installed on July 16. d4dewu
Took my MKX in for scheduled service, mentioned speakers making load buzzing noise a couple of days earlier whether radio on or off that even a reset did not get rid of it but after walking away from it for an hour it stopped. Also lost sync with my phone a couple of times. So reprogrammed DSP and loaded the LATEST SYNC update that was just released!!! Only when I picked it up it was v1.1, not v2.0 and not v1.0 that was originally delivered (Feb'16 build). I cannot tell yet what is different and cannot find any place that describes what might have changed or "bugs" that may have been fixed. If anyone knows or where to find info it would be appreciated. I really was hoping it had Android autoplay but does not look like the pictures link in this thread.

mfam16
The update went well and now I'm running Sync3 V2.2 with Android Auto! So far everything is running well and smooth, however, time will tell The update process took about 30 minutes. After shutting down the X and restarting the screen was blank for 20 seconds and then loaded up everything. Attached are pics. Hope this helps! thisguy159
So do we need to have any hardware update for AA/CP on no?
walkabout
Yes, hardware update for CP. But, AA is software only.
mfam16
The USB port needed for CP in Lincoln's is GJ7Z-19A387-B which is the white USB Port with LED's - List Price: $63.01 USD. I only use Android devices so I don't have ability to check if CP works with the existing hardware.

punch-card
mfam16, So can I assume you downloaded the dropbox? Also did you update your USB hub? The reason, I read some where you get an error if the USB hub had not been updated. Mike The update went well and now I'm running Sync3 V2.2 with Android Auto! PS... arrrggggg But the last page of the thread and another drop location.... I think I will give you a couple of days to beta test Edited December 14, 2016 by punch-card
walkabout
My understanding is that there won't be an error message, but you won't be able to use Carplay without an updated hub.
akirby
From the Edge forum. Please note this is not an authorized Ford update and you use it at your own risk. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/21394-sync-3-and-carplayandroid-auto-information/page-4?do=findComment&comment=162864
mfam16
Punch I did use the initial Dropbox. It looks like it went down in about an hour from being posted (lots of traffic) I don't think I have updated USB port (I never ordered part since I don't use iOS). So far everything is running well. Very stable and smooth transitions B/W AA and Sync. I've also updated wife's X and no problems there either. 1. Google Maps loads and runs fast and smooth (I do like graphics from Sync's Map better) 2. Transitioning between music apps (Google Play, Spotify, & Amazon) is quick and seamless & much much better that app mirroring via Sync 3. SMS works perfectly (incoming txt2voice and replying via voice2txt) 4. Contact features works well 5. Switching back & forth to Sync and AA is seamless 6. Voice commands for navigation simple (press voice button and say directions to ... and list of options shows up) So far no issues. Haven't tested anything on the Sync side, but I think they improved BT & WIFI connections. thisguy159
So I have a bit of an update form the concierge. They recently received a memo stating that Sync 3 with CP and AA will start rolling out early January. He was reading the memo under his breath and I heard him say the 12th. He continued to reading and it specifically states that 2016 mkx are TBD still. Meaning that even if other cars get the update mkx owners will have to wait. I suspect it may have something to do with the hub but... So that seals it for me I will be installing 2.2 that has been floating g around sooner than later. wbferrara
On the Ford 150 Forum someone had posted a link to the downloads. It was specifically listed as NOT for the MKX. No explanation why. Has anyone tried installing this version with success?
