Cosmos36
I don't buy vehicles based on who else owns them, but if I did, I'd be a Lincoln guy for life. Just keep those V6TT engines in your lineup, Lincoln.
walkabout
LOL. That too. One of the best powertrains on the road.
sped
Honestly,I've been on many car forums over the years, and this is easily the most friendly. Maybe that's because Lincoln owners tend to be a somewhat older group than BMW or Acura owners, but all of the posters here are informed and polite car people. No complaints from me. We've had two disgruntled types who were down on the MKX and Walt, but otherwise, everybody has been great. I don't buy vehicles based on who else owns them, but if I did, I'd be a Lincoln guy for life. More like there are only about 10 of you that are active on here with the current version of the MKX - less people to "get along" with .. larger forum have more "personalities" I have to admit Walt's posts added some entertainment to this otherwise mostly inactive forum for awhile... Good luck with that MKX Walt, we know you are reading
walkabout
I really don't believe Walt actually purchased the MKX. The last weeks he was posting various wild financing scenarios that would have made no sense if he had already put down a deposit and special ordered the vehicle. Point taken about the 10 active posters though! I think that is part of the issue. I was on a BMW forum and there was lots of flame wars there. Lots more posters (and a lot more passionate about their rides than Lincoln owners, IMO). So, more fights.
Cosmos36
Yes, compared to many forums, this forum is seldom 'lively'. And, when it get active (relatively speaking), it's when a troll antagonizes folks here with persona issues, social immaturity, intentional provocation, endless 'facts' acquired from Wikipedia portrayed as their own deep knowledge, etc. As a longtime participant on the f150forum.com board, I am continuously astounded at the hourly/daily activity there, often resulting in dozens of replies to an inquiry immediately after a posting. I noted just today, for example, a single topic (i.e. FORScan) receiving nearly 3 million views and over 16,000 replies in 24 months...not uncommon. Well they’ve been making half ton pickups since 1947 and this year along they’re on track to sell almost 1M F series pickups. I’d say conservatively that there are probably 15M - 20M F150s on the streets today. That’s a far cry from < 300K MKXs. And there are so many more modifications and options to worry about. Just FYI - Walt attacked me on the F150forum and got a 30 day ban over there. And he’s doing the same on another forum. Pretty sad.
Cosmos36
Some folks don't have the introspective facility to self-evaluate an issue within themselves. They adopt a persona mood of victimization and eventually anger & aggressiveness when 'others' express criticism. Without help, they never seem to "get it". Gurgeh
Pretty bizarre, even for him. So, the Nautilus order guide is open and Job1 is 20 days away. Is it even physically possible to place a factory order for a 2018 MKX anymore? ...and what about the one he "ordered" back in February? walkabout
Meanwhile, I'm just dying to see the Nautilus. The updates may not be a paradigm shift, but all sound worthy.
DeeCee
Several auto media reviews of the Nautilus have mentioned Lincoln's steps to improve cabin quietness/reduced road noise (aka thrum) via additional sound deadening. IMO, if correct, that would be a significant improvement over my MKX. I used a friend's RX to pick up some relatives at the airport. (I needed the extra space for luggage). Drive to airport was about 50 miles with both two lane highway and interstate driving. The biggest complaint I have with the RX was road noise. The road noise made it hard to converse with passengers in back seat. Sure hope the cabin quietness reported for the Nautilus is for real as I have one on order. Both my 2016 MKX Reserve and 2018 MKX Black Label were and are super quiet inside. Some types of road surfaces (asphalt, concrete, old, new, etc.) are noisier or quieter than others. Regardless, the MKX cabin remains quiet and peaceful, even on the noisiest of road surfaces. My $0.
Cosmos36
Over past months, I have complained several times of the thrum (aka road noise) intruding into the MKX interior from all but the smoothest pavement surfaces. The noise is obviously transmitted via the suspension through the firewall/under-dash vicinity and enhanced by the acoustic properties of the MKX's frontal cabin. Just this weekend, I hosted a friend from Ohio whose Honda Odyessy is his daily driver. As a backseat passenger in my MKX, he was impressed by & often vocal about the quietness, lack of rattles, and solid construction (door closing sounds) of the MKX. However, as a driver I continued to be bothered by the thrum up front experienced over some local freeway surfaces. Today, I replaced the OEM 18" Michelin tires with Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring rubber. The Michelins had 24,000+ miles on them with plenty of tread remaining. But, they were getting noisier, harsher riding, and on rain-soaked road curves, I noted the AWD engaging to maintain traction when previously it would not have...time for new tires. The Cooper tires, noted for their ride quality without sacrificing other desirable characteristics, improved the ride quality of the MKX over the Michelins. Some of that is attributable to the deeper tread of the new tires, of course. However, steering responsiveness is definitely improved & a subtle hush is noticeable with the new tires. I suspect my Ohio guest would be even more impressed with the MKX now. Timmer

Timmer
When I bought my 2016 MKX Reserve, and being a bit of an audiophile, I considered having additional sound-deadening mat installed throughout the cabin interior floor area, firewall, etc. I did a bit of research online, then visited an auto sound system installation shop for a quote, options and more technical info on the mat material to be used. I was less than impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of the salesperson and installer. The thought of these dudes tearing apart the interior of my new MKX, removing the 22-way seats, etc., moved this brilliant idea of mine to the "NOPE" list. I agree with Walkabout that my MKX's have been the quietest vehicles I've owned. Nonetheless, I do still wonder how much quieter they would be with the sound mat installed. Cosmos36
Lincoln reps at recent auto shows/media conversations have reiterated that attention has been directed towards improving Nautilus NVH. Seemingly, that would including quieting the cabin even more. I'm awaiting road test reviews to see if any improvements are detected. I recall Lincoln stating how early road testing of MKX mules revealed a need to reinforce the flooring around the dead pedal area before release of the 2016 models. From the F150 forums, the dead pedal vibe issue seems to be a recurring complaint.
walkabout
To me, NVH is not the issue. The cabin is quiet (I think most noise issues I've heard about have been related to tires), the engine is smooth as butter, and I don't hear any squeaks or rattles. I see quality of cabin materials as a much more central issue.

Totally agree...and I'm encouraged that Lincoln still thinks there is room for fine tuning, a sign of commitment in the pursuit of attaining luxury recognition. As I put more miles on the new tires, I'm very satisfied with the noticeable improvement over the OEM Michelins. Tranquility now reigns. As for rattles, the only one I ever heard was from the rear passenger seat belt when it's not relocated correctly in the relaxed position after use. That rattle has been queried on this forum...a two-second fix required every time I carry a rear passenger.
