mfam16
Rst glad Jeep worked out well for you. Watch out for suspension issues. Every Jeep I test drove had balancing issues. I test drove the Jeep CG Summit & SRT. Like I've always said. At the end of the day as long as your happy with your purchase that's all that matter. Someone else will always have issues with your decision. VisionPilot
akirby
. For those who are pretending to love your mkx or mkc I applaud you because your able to sleep at night throwing away money on a vehicle that should be 25k less. There's no defense for shoddy manufracturing with evidence on every vehicle that leaves the plant. Lincolns still no more then Fords polished turd. Ok listen - you have every right to be upset about your vehicle and your experience but don't tell others that they're "pretending" to like their vehicles or that they're spending 25k too much. That's up to each person to decide for themselves. Nobody is making excuses or defending these problems - only trying to put them in perspective in the bigger scheme. walkabout
I come from a long line on family purchases including BMW, Mercedes, Lexus. The luxury cross over segment is geared heavily twords women. A cross over to me is nothing more than a mini van with doors. Ive learned my lesson and understand 60k is Cheap for a "luxury" cross over. Lincoln on paper was the best bang for your buck that didn't look like a soccer moms wagon. I got my "I don't give 2 $hits mobile" and purchase a new Jeep Overland as I discussed in other threads. The fit and finish is near perfect and after a buy back I was extra critical. Sticker was almost 20k less than the MKX and is built sound. Of course it lacks in areas but it's surprised me in the quality department. I need reliable transportation that's family feasible and not falling apart after every drive or wash. I actually agree with you that a crossover is basically just a minivan and statistically most buyers are women. Personally, I would have preferred a wagon (my last vehicle was a 3-series wagon, in fact) but not widely available. Crossovers are a great option for a guy like me who is part of the active lifestyle crowd. I cycle, camp, or hike almost every weekend and I'm constantly using the MKX to haul plants and other supplies for my constant home renovations. I wanted something practical that fits my lifestyle, but also has a little bit of a flare and offers some luxury. The MKX mostly checked off all those boxes for me - its just a little large for my needs. I don't know what a "Jeep Overland" is. I presume that is some kind of trim level for the Cherokee or Grand Cherokee. Both nice vehicles but per consumer reports, extremely unreliable. Timmer
Service manager's comment, "That's what you get for buying an American car..." Wow... Did he really say that? elijahbird7
I've had mine about 8 months now. My 2014 was never to the dealer except for oil changes. My 2016 has been back for 3 issues. 1. Alternator failed at 421 miles, 2. There was a screw inside the driver's headlight unit, 3. The Shouting lady Navigation volume issue. All of the issues were handled in a proper manner, and I have no complaints about the service at the Lincoln dealer. I have 4 classic cars, and have done judging at classic car shows, so I'm very aware of panel gaps, alignment, trim, etc. I have not found any issues with the fit inside or outside my MKX. There are no rattles, squeaks, wind noise or anything else. I'm happy with this vehicle. It rides well, has great performance with the 2.7, gets good milwage when driven below 65 mph. I will very likely buy another Lincoln when the time comes, and still remember our first family Lincoln being a 1953 Capri coupe, white with black top and red and black leather interior. I have looked at the new Continental, and hope it turns out to be a good seller for Lincoln. Cosmos36 and VisionPilot
cowboysphan
For most dropping 60k on a luxury vehicle we expect more. Everyone's expectations are different. We all chose to live with things to justify the purchase. I get it. Now its time to be honest. I've yet to see one mkx where body panels doors hood and trunk actually line up properly. I've walked multiple lots and have reported imo major fit and finish issues here and have seen approximately 47 x's that all share the same issues and that's only talking about the exterior. Ive provided Lincoln with over 1200 pictures to support my case during the buy back process of major fit and finish issues on all 47 vehicles. Their products a disgrace and a slap in the consumers face. Ford has no bussiness in the luxury car segment. For those who are pretending to love your mkx or mkc I applaud you because your able to sleep at night throwing away money on a vehicle that should be 25k less. cowboysphan
Cowbowsphan Here are the issues I've had with fit and finish. 1. Rear cupholder didn't function (it was replaced without any issues) 2. Molding on B pillar wasn't fully seated. It snapped in perfectly (no replacement needed) 3. USB hub in center console wasn't secure (replacement ordered) Issues which needed software update or hard reset 1. Lights on wife's MKX (update applied) 2. Parking sensor on wife's MKX (recalibrated and updated) 3. Mobile app not communicating (hard reboot by disconnecting battery terminal fixed issue) I would not considered a software update/reprovision/ hard reboot a problem. It's expected with tech. So all in all I have had 3 minor issues. All were on our second MKX. None on first one. Maybe these 3 issues are deal breakers for you but IMO that's being petty. I'm curious what luxury brands are you accustomed to? Did you get on their forums and research issues? I know people with base model and higher end GM and Ford vehicles and never had any issues for over 20 years. I also know people with high end Lexus, BMW, Porches, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jag, Maserati, Audi, Lotus, Bentley & Alfa Romeo. All of whom had some sort of issue and others with similar vehicles have no issues. I remember earlier you were looking/thinking of the F Pace. Give them a try and report back. I'm not knocking any Co. As I believe that they all make great vehicles. I also know that they all have issues as well. At the end of the day you need to be happy with your decision. As I'm happy with mine. mfam I explained in details my reasoning behind saying Lincoln has issues, terrible dealers/service, and that I wont be buying one. I had been following the MKC for more than a year, then the MKX - gist of it - the extreme amount of dealer issues, quality issues, mechanical issues, and Lincoln's handling or denial of most problems and general unhappiness of owners wanting out of their leases and not wanting to buy another Lincoln. Its an overall picture for me not that one owner only had a few minor things... I am truly glad you only had three minor issues as you say, others have not been so fortunate...and expect more for the money they paid. That's the point of others on this forum as well - I agree Lincoln is more on par with GMC - but GMC does not tout themselves to be luxury and charge a premium price for that charade, that's the difference. Different expectations for sure if someone is coming from MB, Audi, BMW, Lexus, etc My lease in not up until end of February so even though I know I'm not buying an MKX, I'm not 100% decided and continue to do research. I am 98% F Pace. Just waiting until after the holidays to do more in person research and see what inventory is on lots. I also asked other on here to provide on "dirt" or negatives they may have seen about the Fpace - its still so new and not a lot to find out there so far. In regards to someone mentioning Mercedes MB-Tech...I'm not sure if people (who aren't former owners or familiar with the MB brand like myself) know that the purpose of MB tech is not only lower price point but really it was marketed originally to those with an active lifestyle that may prefer seats able to withstand getting wet or dirty more often not to mention those with kids. Agree I myself even with an active lifestyle would not get the MB Tech, but MB interiors, leather and quality FAR surpass Lincoln..its just not even close. Audi too. Like the GLC but feel the HP is too low for the vehicle (German vehicles have a "heavier" drive and feel IMO) I plan to test drive it again after the holidays but I don't think my opinion will change..beautiful car though, maybe Ill buck up for the new AMG version

You can special order, but a lot of the dealers around here were resistant (and, for me, with a trade-in, it created complications). The GLC is also not easily available with some of the basic features you find on other vehicles (liked cooled seats) - again you have to special order because no dealer stocks them. And, most of the more desirable features are buried in option package after option package. Regardless of what MB intended the vinyl seating for, I had successive dealers say that the main issue is price point. they like to keep the floor models to a small number of options so they can bring in those guys who like to lease. Keep the monthly price down and get them hooked on swapping MB products every few years. ON the plus side, the GLC is available in RWD - if you are not a AWD or FWD person (like those of us who live in Southern Cal), that's a nice plus. M-B's infotainment system is quite weak, which was a big issue for me (since I love cabin tech). The Nav is not in the same league as Sync 3, to be frank. I test drove the F-pace and saw it a day or so at the autoshow. I'm not really impressed. The interior materials aren't a whole lot better than the Lincoln. And, as somebody who is very critical of Lincoln's inferior material quality, I will at least acknowledge that the leather on the seating surfaces is pretty nice - nicer than I had in my Bimmer. You should take a peak at the new Q5. Its impressive, to say the least. Edited November 23, 2016 by walkabout

You should take a peak at the new Q5. Its impressive, to say the least. I live near some large MB dealers and they do stock the leather ones and a few totally loaded or close to. And yes you do have to hit a lot of the big packages to get the real options...but the pricing is just like the MKX! And I just priced out an AMG GLC almost loaded and no more than the Black Label MKX..again Lincoln just isn't in that league to charge that much for an MKX when I can get an AMG GLC for close to the same price with very very similar options... MB does have "ventilated" seats, not cooled but according to the reports of those owning the MKC and MKX with the cooled seats it doesn't sound like anything to write home about and I bet if I compared the two there wouldn't be much difference at all But regardless I am probably getting the FPace anyway. If I ran into an AMG loaded on one of my dealer lots I might change my mind I agree on the lower price point to get buyers in the door.. I remember way back when I was getting out of college had a friend that always wanted a Benz and couldn't afford one. They released this cheap little hatchback (anyone remember the model #?) and he was elated to be able to "get his foot in the door" Some people just want the "status" of a Benz regardless LOL. But yeah he was hooked and now has bought mostly MB for years and years. If we were to compare this scenario to Lincoln and the MKC Lincoln has accomplished the opposite...people starting with the lower level MKC are disappointed and a lot aren't renewing leases or buying another one..it backfired with all the issues and lack of dealer/Lincoln response. I like the Q5/Q7 but its missing a lot of features all the other brands have unfortunately for me. The Jag and MB just have all those little bells and whistles Id like. I LOVE that you can choose a custom color for your Audi and the virtual dashboard is incredible! Also waiting to see the redesign...but again unless they add some features probably not on my shopping list... Now if I could only justify/afford the new Maserati Levante (or any of the Porsches loaded) "heck" yeah! There is nothing like either of those vehicles (at least for me) Edited November 23, 2016 by cowboysphan
Adam
the extreme amount of dealer issues, quality issues, mechanical issues, and Lincoln's handling or denial of most problems and general unhappiness of owners wanting out of their leases and not wanting to buy another Lincoln. I guess your definition of 'extreme' differs from mine. You paint it that we are inundated with owners having serious issues here on the forum. I don't believe this is the case, given they build thousands of MKXs per month and that this web forum isn't hard to find for those who want to vent. And your comment about the leather proves to me you are generally off-base and just want to bellyache. The leather in these vehicles is fantastic - right up there with my favourite leather chair at home (which was disturbingly expensive). I will agree that before I purchased my second MKX my eye wandered to the F-Pace and GLC 43 AMG (no 4-bangers for me!), but the Jag had a boring interior and rode like a brick sh*thouse. Also a fair number of unhappy owners in F-Pace forums. GLC was a different story - the most popular forum seems to have a relatively happy customer base. Problem for me was, to option one the way I want it would have meant spending $10,000+ more. That's creeping up on $80K, and they were much less willing to make a deal. Factor in expensive maintenance, etc. and I just couldn't justify it for a vehicle smaller than the X. MKX is definitely the value proposition among the luxury crossovers. Number 1: Where did I complain about the leather in ANY vehicle I spoke of? Quote the comment I made about leather... Number 2: I guess you cannot read or maybe comprehend the "whole picture" explanation..I know others can, and sorry to tell you when you put all the Lincoln models together it IS extreme in comparison to other brands. GLC is SUV of the year, AUDI has multiple vehicles consistently listed a tops in all surveys, lists - you never see a Lincoln on any of those lists Number 3: Don't tell me I just want to "bellyache" based on a complaint I never made - its facts about the quality of Lincoln, all evidenced here in this forum and all over, not to mention NO ONE buys them and sales are no where's near other brands luxury or not, there's a reason for that BUT you want to argue with anyone who does not worship Lincoln and their MKX/MKC Number 4: this discussion was not directed at you, why don't you go get your "new" MKX fixed at your dealer (again) and if you cannot handle criticism then block me. I'm not the only one saying negative things about Lincoln on here pal.... And BTW "building thousand's of MKX a month" and STILL cant get it right LOL SAYS IT ALL.... I left 3 hidden print outs through my MKX that leads them to this forum and all the issues their new X had/has. One in the owners manual, one in the spare and one tucked away behind the passenger side seat. Even if the buyer fits the current demographic of 57 years old I can only hope curiosity brings them here. I despise consumers constantly being ripped off by large corporations and not being educated enough to stand up for them selfs because they are afraid of the fight ahead. Hopefully people can learn through my negative experiences with the brand and steer clear of the disasters ahead. Personally if I were you I would be livid. Lincoln not only got you once, but twice. The sad part is your settling when your hard earned money deserves more. We all pick and choose our own battles and are able to live with certain things but a time comes where we need to be honest. The MKX is a well thought out option on paper that Lincoln has faild to produce properly. It's a defective vehicle. **side note***When I have a chance, I'll share pictures from the Los Angeles Auto show where they didn't even bother to bring an X in with proper body alignment or a side pillar that wasn't defective. VisionPilot
I was one of the MKX owners with a significant mechanical issue within two weeks of ownership. While my original dealer yanked me around and took 3 weeks to fix the issue (with the final portion handled by a different dealer), the issue has been fixed. Yes, it was 3 weeks of getting the runaround, but I have since put 2500 miles on the car, and it is awesome. Lincoln stepped up and made me whole for the time I was without my vehicle, and then some. I love my X, and I would not choose to undo the deal.
