VisionPilot
Have you opened a case personally through Lincoln to get things expedited? Seems to me this service center needs more then a little push. Yes, I opened a case with Lincoln (Ford) yesterday.
VisionPilot
Just in case some of you only visit a couple of threads.... here's the latest: And, another new turn of events. I opened a ticket with Lincoln corp on Wednesday. The case manager called me back today asking if I was happy with my car. I said.. what? He said he called the dealer, and that the dealer told them I had picked it up. I told him they lied to you. My car is sitting outside their service bay, waiting for parts that aren't supposed to arrive until next week some time... Now what do I do? They straight up lied to Lincoln corp, telling them they fixed my car and I picked it up, which is absolutely not true. Oh, and the Lincoln corp guy did provide them my VIN, so there was no confusion. Edited September 2, 2016 by VisionPilot
akirby
Contact FordService on Twitter or Facebook - sometimes they can help more than the normal Lincoln Customer Service folks. You might also want to contact the BBB. VisionPilot

VisionPilot
However, the case manager did call the dealer back, and they admitted that they were wrong. They expect the parts any time. At this point, they are telling me they will have it ready next week. I won't hold my breath, it's been one lie after another, as they keep pushing my service back. At this point, I have put more miles on their loaner than the total miles on my "new" car! Edited September 3, 2016 by VisionPilot

Have you reached out to the owner of the dealership yet? Also before closing your case. I would highly suggest asking for extended warranty on the vehicle if you plan on keeping it for piece of mind. Remember, the worst thing they can tell you is no.

rst08tierney
I have not reached out to the owner yet. I plan to do that next time I visit the dealership. Would not hesitate to get him an email before meeting. Remember this is a long holiday weekend. Can see them using that as an excuse. Tuesday will be a nightmare and all the easy jobs from the weekend will go to the techs Wednesday. Would not be surprised if they came back and told you early the week of the 12th. Owner needs to be in the loop so the service manager can actually be held accountable. Best of luck getting things resolved. VisionPilot
Latest update, as of today (Wed, the 7th), it's apparently back in the service bay getting worked on... will I still have a new shiny motor without oil everywhere? probably not. Will my cappuccino seats still be pristine? unlikely. Will my white platinum doors, hood, and rear of the car be hand print, scratch, and dent free from being left outside for over two weeks, then pushed in and out of the service bay? won't hold my breath. Am I a pessimist? Good chance! Will the problem actually be fixed? Hmmmm..... Edited September 7, 2016 by VisionPilot
VisionPilot
I finally took possession of my car today. No clue yet if the issue is actually fixed, as it is a cold / warm start issue. I will get an idea when I leave work after letting it sit for 3 hours, and then again, in the morning, will be the big test. They did replace the two left side phasers. Interesting to note, that the '17 MKC I test drove seemed a little bit quieter with less road feel and noise than my MKX. I thought that I had noticed it 3 weeks ago when I first picked up the loaner, but the return trip confirmed it. Glad to have my MKX back though. rst08tierney
Imo the mkx has serious design flaws due to poor manufacturing. The ideas and concepts are great but the final product seems like it's still in a testing stage. Who knows what happens in 3 to 4 years when things get fixed but at this point they are killing their new image. Same turd as usual but it's now brightly polished. Nothings changed other then new smoke and mirrors. I've yet to run into anyone with a new mkx or mkc who has not had issues. The most positive I've seen has been from this forum but out in public it's all the same. Wish I would have done more home work. Best of luck to anyone moving foward with the brand, especially the suckers dropping 80k on the Continental
enigma-2
Imo the mkx has serious design flaws due to poor manufacturing. Bee in the bonnet? We're you fuming over his raw deal with his (less than great) dealer or have you developed problemswith yours? Only complaint you posted about was your engine runs a little rough when it's cold (all four-bangers do), and you didn't like the fan speed change between 72° & 73°. Neither of which is hardly worthy of the X being full of design flaws. Every brand has problems and anything mechanical or electronic can fail. Rant was a little over the top, yes? Rant was a little over the top, yes? you have the wrong user. I have a MKX with the 2.7 which is not a 4 banger along with a laundry list of problems that led to the buy back. my rant has to do with poor workmanship thats caused by design flaws. Sometimes you just can execute a production vehicle properly and corners are cut to save money. I know every manufacture has its issue but most reporting problems experienced them before the odometer even turned to 3k here and in my case 10 miles before the battery failed. my dealership cant even keep enough rentals on the lot with all the mkc's and mkx's in for service.......... that alone says all you need to know about Lincolns quality right now. (and no, i dont live in a small city. My dealer ship has 12 Lincoln rentals. They are black label certified as well) Edited September 12, 2016 by rst08tierney
VisionPilot
Update: Picked the car up on Monday, three weeks after dropping it off. The phaser issue seems to be fixed, but now my AC doesn't blow cool air. Ugh. Car is going back in to a different dealer this morning. This car has been in the shop more than in my possession since I bought it.

Cosmos36
VP...since access to the cam phasers is via the 2.7 engine's integrated front cover which includes the A/C compressor pump, your A/C failure is certainly related to the dealer's recent service on your X. I'm curious to see if the 2nd dealer will challenge servicing the A/C under warranty when another dealer likely improperly serviced your engine, e.g. inadequate coolant charge or whatever. VisionPilot
Sorry to hear. Hopefully it will be something as simple and quick Well, I must admit that the second dealer stepped up and took care of the first dealers oversight. They didn't have to, as it was directly related to the warranty work at the first dealer, and it should be part of that ticket. They did it while I waited. Apparently it was a loose hose, and lost all it's refrigerant. Timmer

And that was exactly the issue that arose. However, they decided to take their chances and just make me happy.... they said they'd work out the warranty cross work themselves afterwards. Awesome! They did it while I waited.... had one other customer's car in the AC bay, but he and I ended up chatting anyway, so it was a short 2 hour wait for an unexpected repair. Oh, and the separate, dedicated Lincoln customer wait area was MUCH nicer than at the other dealer.
