I had a problem with a slow leak so I was looking for the tire change kit and while looking for the wrench bar I searched the manual and it refers to an inflation kit that I do not have. If that an option or should it be part of the reserve package? enigma-2 Posted March 4, 2018 Report Share Posted March 4, 2018 No. The kits were furnished on cars where they eliminated the spare and substituted and a way to get you to the nearest dealer for tire replacment. Problem is, most failures are the result of sidewall blowout (low profile tires) and can't be repaired with this or any other way. I have one of these kits and there is a gel that is injected to seal the leak. The gel makes is a real mess in the tire and goo's up (right word?) the pressure sensor inside the tire. As to the slow leak. I bought new tires and the two front tires had a slow leak. Took it back to the dealer and had them wire brush the rims (again) and then glue the tire rims. Been 1-1/2 months and not one psi lost. That's the best way to deal with a slow leak. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Low profile tires do suck and Ford is trying to satisfy millennials who for the most part cannot afford the car. Low profile tires just love potholes caused by ice heaves in New England too. Price the tires out, EXPENSIVE,! They should just make 18” wheel tire / wheel standard andhave the 20 & 21 inch go third party. Guess Ford / Lincoln bosses forgot the Firestone tire fiasco. Sponson Posted January 5, 2019 Report Share Posted January 5, 2019 Totally agree on the 20/21" tire size. I had them on my car (bought a car on the lot and 21" were on it already). There is nothing wring with 20 and 21 in tires/wheels. The car like most cars look ugly with smaller wheels and the suspension on the mkx was tuned very well for large wheels. While I agree the larger wheels can look better, I can tell you the 18s give a significantly better ride than the 21s. I switched from 21s to 18s and the ride improved greatly. Setting the ride level to comfot with the 21s didn't do much - I still felt every single thing on the road.
