Cosmos36 Posted June 6, 2018 Report Share Posted June 6, 2018 kirby...doesn't your F150 3.5EB engine also have a thermoplastic oil pan and aren't owners reporting leaking oil pans on those engines also? goatee...since many manufacturers worldwide install 'plastic' oil pans on engines, a sample browsing of vehicle forums reveals that leaking oil pans are not rare (but also shouldn't be condemned as common). Ford/Lincoln is no exception as such components have several advantages over metals that makes their use ubiquitous. I've never seen any empirical data as to the percentage of pan failures, but it's obvious that the numbers of vehicles sold correlates closely with numbers of reported issues, e.g. F150 (high volume) vs. MKX (low volume), respectively. My local dealer uses a Flex as a dealer limo; rides in it while the wife's Fusion were being serviced were very pleasant. The Aviator will be Lincoln's showcase with the new C/D 6 platform architecture. Off-topic. sdonaghey Posted October 19, 2018 Author Report Share Posted October 19, 2018 Well my oil leak has come back Last oil pan replacement was done in March 2018. Now 7 months later and a little bit colder weather the damn thing has started to leak. I have had the oil pan replaced now 3 times. I have made an appointment to get it fixed for the 4th time. The wife and I are really considering trading this damn thing in. Love the car and colour, but this reoccurring oil leak is a pain in the a$$. A Ford tech says he sees a lot of improper replacements (failure to clean the mating surfaces, not using the right amount of sealant, etc. etc. Says his never come back. sdonaghey Posted November 1, 2018 Author Report Share Posted November 1, 2018 Well it is official. Dealership has now said the block is warped and is ordering a new block to fix this oil leak issue. They have had it in the shop since last Thursday waiting for direction from Ford on how to proceed with the work. Well at least I have a new Lincoln loaner to drive around.
