Buzz12 Posted March 15, 2017 Report Share Posted March 15, 2017 Has anyone noticed a door rattle? Mine seems to be coming from the passenger side (front or rear). The first repair was to lubricate the gaskets, obviously a temporary fix. Now that the noise is back and my 2 yr warranty is up in 10 months I was wondering if anybody else had this problem and if there was a permanent fix for it. Another Chicagoan that moved out of Il.. I am real, real down on the mkx interior fit and finish but I've had zero problems with squeaks and rattles. If the rattle is loud enough to bother you it is probably not just gaskets rubbing. When I've seen reports like yours, it is usually more significant, like a problem in the door itself. One obsercation is that every lincoln loaner I've driven, and my own vehicle, had issues with life trim pieces. That limb of problem could cause a rattle. akirby Posted March 15, 2017 Report Share Posted March 15, 2017 Check the sunglass holder overhead and make sure the visors are snapped in - I've had several occasions where those caused a noise that I would have sworn came from the rear passenger seat. That led me to a clue. It was the seatbelt hanging improperly and rattling against the interior plastic door framing. Another Chicagoan the moved out of Illinois...over 75 years ago. enigma-2 Posted March 15, 2017 Report Share Posted March 15, 2017 (edited) I've had stuff left behind in the door pockets. Rattle, rattle, rattle. Wifiepoo uses them as a trash bin, grandson uses his to store his toys (which don't always go home with him). Think I would agree with walkabout, if greasing the gaskets made it go away, that means the door is not being held tightly enough to the opening. Have you tried pushing in (hard) on the edges of the door, top, bottom and the middle to see if you can sense any movement? Use the fit on the opposite side for reference (as they don't rattle).
