I will try to stay positive as I am superstitious about Monday/Friday vehicles. 2010 GMC Terrain - built on a Saturday - worst build quality I've ever had - total junk (and probably why I don't drive an XT5 today) 2010 GMC Terrain - built on a Thursday - pretty good 2011 Edge - built on a Wednesday - best I've ever had 2013 MKX - built on a Tuesday - quite good 2016 MKX - built on a Friday - a number of F/F issues 2016 MKX - built on a Friday - ?????? Adam Posted October 29, 2016 Report Share Posted October 29, 2016 Please allow me to rant in peace for a moment that I find it absolutely ridiculous that I am waiting 13 weeks for a special order, over 7 calendar days past build for a vehicle assembled 3 hours down the highway. Totally baffling. Hundreds, probably thousands of stock orders have been built and shipped before mine. Maybe it's a sign that I should visit the BMW dealership on Monday and get myself an X4 M40i. Or maybe I'm just paranoid that mine didn't pass inspection and was held up. Or that I could have waited a day and bought a 2017. It's no way to treat a 3-time Lincoln owner, 5 time Ford owner. When I was waiting for mine, the dealer was able to tell me exactly when it passed inspection and where it was sitting through out the transport process. They should be able to tell you when it was built and then when it passed inspection. That should give you an indication if there was a problem or not. Sorry about the delay. I agree 100% that special orders should move along much more quickly and should be automatically moved in front of all dealer stock orders. Why wouldn't Ford/dealerships want to move the vehicles they know are sold. Honestly, I know nothing about auto industry logistics, so my opinions are probably way off base. Hope you hear something soon! Mike Retail (sold) orders always take precedence over dealer stock orders - IF the dealer follows the rules. The one change I wish Ford would make across the board is to not count retail orders towards dealer allocation. Today if you order from a small dealer your order may have to wait a few extra weeks waiting for the dealer to get allocation for that vehicle. They've waived this before on some vehicles. To add to your experience - the dealer has the ability to know exactly where the vehicle is in the process and why it's being delayed as far as allocation and material holds and shipping. Why some (most?) dealers plead ignorance is a mystery to me - they're either lazy or they're not trained or they're doing it on purpose. The only exception I know if is if the vehicle gets held after manufacturing - they don't make that info available to dealers. Adam Posted October 31, 2016 Report Share Posted October 31, 2016 My last special order (my 2013) was at the dealer in under six weeks as well. Back on October 4th, I messaged Lincoln Canada on FB and was told my order is "scheduled to arrive at the dealership by November 1". I emailed my salesman a week ago but all I got was "it should be here any day now". My dealership is a laid-back, country outfit; I am trying to be a patient customer to preserve the excellent relationship we have. I do intend to have a frank discussion with the Dealer Principal, if delivery day ever comes.
