I have been trying to buy this accessory online but unable thus far to find any option anywhere, in the Lincoln web site. If you're looking to add crossbars, both Thule and Yakima offer solutions that do not require any roof rail at all. We actually selected a car from dealer inventory, and it has all of the options we were interested in and even a few extras that weren't important to us. She's thrilled. The only missing option that my wife wanted is the roof rack side rails. Both she and I understand that they are really just cosmetic, but she's still interested. So...does anyone know if you can add roof rails after the fact? Can you purchase them as an accessory and how are they attached? Thanks in advance for any insight. From what I have been able to learn the rails can be purchased separately from www.tascaparts.com: Part # FA1Z-5855106-AD (RH)https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-rail-roof-rack-cross-fa1z5855106adPart # FA1Z-5855107-AD (LH)https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-rail-roof-rack-cross-fa1z5855107adThese are not sold as a set just separately Right hand side and Left hand side. I understand that instructions are included which I have been unable to obtain. I don't know how involved it would be to do a self install. I would think that it requires drilling holes and dropping the headliner which I would be reluctant to perform on my new MKX. So a custom shop or the dealer might be the best choice for installation. I was told that it take about 1-1/2 labor to install. I will contact my local Lincoln dealer next week to see what they would charge to install my pre-purchased rails. I will post the follow-up. If anyone has any additional information, please post.Both are available and has to be special ordered directly from the automotive manufacturing plant.Resupply would arrive with in 3-5 business days once your order has begun processing. ron123 Posted February 21, 2018 Report Share Posted February 21, 2018 I contacted my local Lincoln service department asked if they would be willing to install roof rails on my 2017 MKX, They refused to add the roof rails because it involves drilling holes in the roof and dropping the headliner. chazmink Posted January 20, 2019 Report Share Posted January 20, 2019 I just got a loaded 2016 MKX Reserve with every option EXCEPT roof side rails and a trailer hitch, both of which I want. Recognizing that the consensus in this thread is not to install the rails after purchase I wonder if anyone has actually done it. My guess is a good body shop, high end trim or upholstery shop or a shop that specializes in aftermarket retrofits would be the best bet. This guy over on the Lincoln Forum claims to have had them installed for $300 (plus the rails) https://lincolnforums.com/forums/threads/mkx-chrome-roof-rails.34827/ I bought a used MKX, I desperately want the rails for a top box. I already regular ruin my roof line by hanging our mountain bikes off the back with a North Shore Rack.
