Warning Keeps Going Off for NO REASON.

Hello ALL:

We have a 2016 MKX with about every option. Most works OK but we have been getting a warning going off like an object in the way, but nothing is anywhere near. This can not be demonstrated to a dealer as it is so intermittent. Sometimes it is even in a parking lot and other times when we are stopped at a light, it goes off when there is nothing ANYWHERE even near us. We hate to ignore it and we have even gotten out of the car and looked when in a parking lot and there is NOTHING there. Is there a sensitivity adjustment or has anyone else had this happen? Is there any fix?

Ghosts....there is an a adjustment in the instrument cluster but what you described is not normal operation no matter what setting.

My guess would suspect either a corroded connection on one if the sensors or (more likely) one one the sensors is getting water in it and faulting. Dr out it's fine.

The first is to pull the four plugs one at a time and look for corrosion. Spray with contact cleaner, smear with dielectric greas and reconnect. The second should leave a code.

This is common on 2nd gen Edge and MKX. The sensors are too sensitive, usually on the right side. Have not seen any adjustments or TSBs.

I've read in other forums where bugs and dirt was causing sensitivity issues. OP wrote he had to keep them clean.

Another forum OP wrote he had intermittent triggering and traced it to one sensor getting too hot when in sun. He isolated which one by pouring cold water on each sensor until he found the culprit. Dealer replaced and all's well.

Well, what sensors should we look at. Four were mentioned, but where are they as there are many.

I would check for codes first. Otherwise it becomes an exercise in isolation.
