NJRonbo
Will let you know if I receive a reply Dear Mark Fields, I am taking a stab in the dark that one of the email addresses I used will catapult this email into your inbox and that you will be reading this personally. Let me get to the point as to why I felt the need to personally email you… I am looking to lease my very first Lincoln MKX. I have been a long-time leaser of Cadillac vehicles. That has been my luxury brand of choice. It was actually the design of the new MXK and the available technology (including the Revel 19 speaker system) that lured me to my local Lincoln Dealer. And, by the way, my local George Wall Lincoln dealership in Shrewsbury NJ is outstanding. Really great people there who have been trying very hard to get me a loaded 2016 MKX vehicle. However, there are none to be had. To order one — which I have done — will result in a 16 week wait. So, my question is, what is going on that is causing a 16 week delay in ordered vehicles being manufactured? And while I have you here, what was the mindset involved in not putting the brand-new Sync 3 in your new top-of-the-line flagship MKX vehicle? I am getting the best technology in my ordered vehicle with a outdated MyFord Touch system. It just doesn’t make sense. But getting back to the point… If I have to wait 16 weeks for a 2016 MKX, I am going to look at another luxury line of vehicles. I mean, you have me “hooked” at the moment. I am salivating for one of these vehicles. However, it’s pretty disturbing to learn that it may be November or December until I have a vehicle in hand. You can bet I might be driving another luxury brand before that if this is the case. Thank You for your time. Cosmos36
Cosmos36
I inspected a 2015 Edge today at my local County Fair. While discussing the vehicle with a principal of the dealer that I'm long acquainted with, we compared notes regarding the Edge & MKX. Inevitably, the issue of MKX availability came up with the Ford rep suggesting that Ford dealers have no issues with order-to-delivery times. He speculated that if Lincoln is experiencing delivery delays and Ford none, it didn't seem logical since they are both shipped from the same assembly point. That would seem to imply that Lincoln is either experiencing vendor supply issues or QC problems. Ronbo, good on you for your attempt to secure an answer. I would be amazed if Mark Fields personally replies and further surprised if whoever does reply (somebody will)provides a straight, informative response. My email via another route passed the buck with what is sometimes referred to as a 'bedbug letter'.
Robert
It's very USUAL for Ford to hold back production of a new model for quality checks of all sorts. This has been going on for a while now in order to prevent potential problematic vehicles from entering into the customers driveways. As for the SYNC3 not being part of the MKX's launch, I can't figure that one out either.
Adam
FWIW there are lots in stock in the extended area around me now... the newest being VIN 31437 which ETIS indicates was built on the 11th of August. It's a 3.7 with not many options. The second newest I see is 31434, built on the 10th and it is a 2.7 with everything but the tech package. Both indicate on dealer lot. Does it make sense that they would release some and not others? Perhaps the issue is a combination of carrier logistics and certain parts that are unique to the X. Oh well, mine hasn't spontaneously combusted yet!
NJRonbo
No answer from Mr. Fields. Guess I shouldn't be surprised. I think I will have a MKX later today. Though I have a fully loaded Platinum Dune vehicle on order, my dealership found a fully loaded Ruby Red MKX in Delaware. They are having it shipped/traded to my dealership. I am being told that it should arrive today. I guess this is a good thing as I was days away from looking at a fully loaded BMW X3 for the same price. Will keep you posted....
