If the fluid (brownish/stinky) is leaking due to overfilling/overheating, then you can R&R the PTU fluid through the fill plug (I suggest a good full synthetic other than Motorcraft, such as Amsoil or Royal Purple). If the fluid is leaking due to the transmission seal leaking (mix of brown and pink fluid, less stinky, less viscous) and the trans fluid contaminating the PTU, then the seal needs to be replaced first, followed by an R&R of the PTU fluid. You can attempt the PTU fluid exchange on your own (if you are mechanically inclined and have a lift/jackstands) or find a competent mechanic to do it for you. If it's anything like the 2007, it should be straightforward: Remove the power liftgate rod-to-liftgate cover and nut, if equipped To install, apply Threadlock 262 to the threads of the fastener and tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft). Remove the liftgate lower trim panel. Remove the 4 screws. Remove the liftgate lower trim panel. Remove the liftgate upper trim panel. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Most likely tire or wheel bearing or alignment. If the noise increases when you turn the steering wheel compared to when the MKX is driven in a straight line, it is very likely the wheel bearing that needs replacement. If you swap right & left front tires and the noise moves accordingly, the tire needs replacement OR the MKX needs an alignment.
