Tranny stuck in 5th

Q&H

SORRY FOR WRITING A BOOK

Been fighting this for a month, bout to the point I think the pcm has just gone stupid. Was driving, all was good, pulled up to red light and when it was time to take off, boom, turd mode, stuck in 5th gear. Was sure it was the oss/tss sensors so installed new motorcraft units, did'nt fix anything. Next, ohm'd for proper fuction of the range sensor, Pass. Next, reset everything by disconnecting the battery and connecting the + and - cables together, no fix. Next, ohm'd and check fuction of all switches related to the shifter, Pass.

I've hooked up my laptop with forscan muliple times, NO codes and every sensor I can think to look at for live data shows to be good. With that said the pcm is activating the shift solinoids to engage 5th but is that because its stupid or does it see something Im not. Also its in 5th all the time, soon as you crank it up in park you can feel it clunck into 5th, reverse is reverse but slams when selected.

Something interesting to note is last week the battery for reason went completely dead and upon jumping it off all seemed normal for about 2 minutes, no harsh slaming when moving the shifter through the gears (already had forscan hooked up) and it was showing first gear when in drive. Soon as the wife got in (idleing in park)so we could test drive we felt clunk and it was back in stupid 5th.

Ever heard of the pcm acting this way?

Can you think of anything else?

HATE just throwing parts at things but cant think of any more diagnosing to do.

As it started when you had an electrical problem, it may be possible that the TCM got confused. Seen several identical problems over in the F150 forum when battery ran low. Most fixed after battery jumped and restart. Some trannys were fixed by dealer applying a

Could always try a Transmission Control Module reset.

This website describes how.

This website described a different process.

In either case, its a simple procedure and doesnt take very long to complete.
