Rod_MKX
Hi, I am just joined this site, and need your help. I have a 2008 MKX. Issue is Battery Dies within 48 hrs of not using car. Troubleshooting Replaced battery. Still notice Voltage drop from ~ 12.6v to 12.15V over night. pulled the following Fuses as seen a voltage drop across them when car was off for over 20 minuts. 7&8 - Low beam 39 - Radio Always hot 20a(according to haynes manual) 2nd day, Also pulled many 20 to 30amp Fuses under the hood. Fuses 59 to 65. 16-18, disconnected Alternator. overnight - Voltage drop from ~ 12.6+ to 12.18v 4th day - Replaced Delayed Accessory Relay(48). and reinstalled all fuses. ~ same voltage drop overnight. 12.6 to 12.15v. I Have not unplugged the computer fuses yet. Did not want to corrupt the computer. Have owned car for 6 months. Front seat Heat/Cool did not work on either passenger or driver seats, when purchased. recently installed Trailer hitch and lights. Noticed Battery Drain 2 weeks later. Have disconnected light kit. Car did not typically sit for more that 1 day most months. So not sure this addition affected anything. Also notice that the Radio LED(side controls) will light up every 15-30 seconds when car is in sleep mode(or should be in sleep mode). Only way to stop this is to remove the 20 amp radio fuse. enigma-2
Believe at this point I would put a VOM in seties across the pos post and measure current draw. Normal is just a few milliamps. More than this is a transient draw. To isolate the cause, start by pulling each fuse, one at a time. Check the VOM and replace the fuse if it had no effect. When you pull a fuse and the draw stops, you found the circuit at fault.
Rod_MKX
enigma-2, thanks for the help. got a new VOM and this one showed 1amp when connected in series with negative cable(old one would show over current). pulled several fuses from under the hood. once pulled the 30amp one for heated seats the current dropped to approx. 20ma. so that problem solved. btw the front heat/cool seats do not work. Rod_MKX
Just to clarify, the heat/cool seat option has not worked since we got the mkx in Jan. symptom is lights come on for 3-5seconds when button is pushed then go out.
enigma-2
If it occurs on both seats, I would suspect the controller. If just one seat, then just that seat.
akirby
Try disconnecting the peltier devices under each seat to isolate the problem.
