daver75
Anyone else notice when locking the car outside, the confirmation beep is very quiet? The dealer told me that he tried it on another 2016 and the volume was the same, but I didnt witness it. I tried it outside with the hood up and it was much louder, but I couldnt locate where the beep was coming from. I had a loaner 2017 MKZ and it was appropriately loud enough to hear. enigma-2
According to the owners manual, pressing the lock button twice locks all doors and honks the horn. (Nothing about a chirp which would be a different device). You could try changing the setting for one button lock all and see if the sound comes from the horn (like in previous years). Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for a few seconds. The turn signals will flash twice, indicating that the mode has switched. Then try unlocking and locking by pressing the lock button twice. (Can set it back to where it was by redoing process). The same happened to mine. The horn that emits the chime was defective and the dealer had to replace the horn that emits that chime. They were hesitant to replace it at first but if you insist, they should do it. It's really loud now that it was replaced. sdonaghey
sdonaghey
I had the same problem and then I drove it a lot of rain one day while on vaction and the chirp just stopped. A couple days later it started working again, but it was very very low in volume. Dealer replaced it and it was great, until it downpoured again and stopped working and did a repeat. Brought it back in last week and they said it was fine. I went searching for the chirp unit and found it under a cover secured with some pushpins. Then I notice that around half the pushpins are missing and the cover is loose and two of the pushpins were replaced with an incorrect christmas tree fastener. I reported this back to the service people and will have to bring it back in to get this addressed.
tberg
We had the same problem. no sound on locking, took it in an was repaired under warranty. The repair lasted only a couple of weeks, maybe a month. Haven't bothered to take it back yet. More annoying is a passenger side mirror that persistently knocks against the window, the motor trying to force it to retract even further than it can. Goes away after you start the car.
