It looks rather simple, like it should just pop off. The reason I ask, is that I was one of the ones with the faulty adaptive steering. The wheel assembly was replaced, but there seems to be a loose nut or screw just rolling around inside the new wheel. I figure I can save a trip to the dealer if that cover just pops off. Going to try to attach a pic from one available on Ebay, showing the back side. My fear is setting off the airbag. However, in this situation is best to let Lincoln fix issue specially if it's a more complicated issue. It's been a while since I've removed an airbag. Most important thing is to find fuse and remove it to deactivate the trigger mechanism or at least that's how I remembered how to safely remove an airbag. The part would just pop out with little force and then you should be able to disconnect connecter and find out what's rattling in there From the picture, it doesn't seem to have an inline connector, just the two center direct connects. Would disconnecting the battery have the same effect as removing the fuse? Also, just looked through the fuse section of the owners manual, and could not locate the fuse associated with the driver's air bag. Just by removing the screw could open the door to "modification". They will be embarrassed and try to get you in and out as quickly as possible. LOL.... yup, they actually have me scheduled for a loaner Friday morning, just in case it takes longer to get it into the hands of a tech. It's a very busy Ford/Lincoln dealer.
