high pitched whine

We love our 2008 MKX, but the high pitched whine is horrible. On the Edge forums many folks have this same problem and it seems to be the fuel pump. Does Ford have a redesigned fuel pump to solve this problem or is A NAPA fuel pump different and not whine?

Does it whine all of the time or when at a certain fuel level?

It whines all the time but is worse when the weather is cold. The whine lessens as the car warms up. There is a video on 'You Tube' of an Edge making the identical noise. I searched Edge whine or noise and it popped up.

sorry, teknowiz I could not find your audio post

Are you logged into the Ford Edge Forum when you click on the audio link? If you are, it will either open the file or download to your desktop, etc.

I cannot pick up the audio link from teknowiz, but did find the identical noise posted on a 'whining Ford Edge' on 'You Tube'. Even logged in, says I don't have permission.

New clue on high pitched whine........ On a 80 degree cold start it is whining away even in park and continued until I made a left turn. The first right hand turn changed nothing,  but the left turn stopped the whining immediately. This makes me think fuel pump, but if fuel pump replacements are not solving the problem I think a poorly designed fuel pump is the culprit. What now?

OK, I did pick up teknowiz audio and it is NOT the same whine. Mine is high pitched whine as heard on 'You Tube' high pitched whine Ford Edge.

Is anyone else hearing this whine on their Edge or MKX? And what fixed it?

After a left turn with half a tank of gas and 75 degrees outside the whine abruptly quit for the rest of the day. Next morning the whine is back. I think fuel pump but without a redesign, what good is that?

Good point.  You'd merely replace the problem. . .with the same problem.
