Another solution to unintended idle (i.e.: parking car, getting out, forgetting to shut off car) would be for the car to just shut off after a period of time...say 20-30 minutes of idle with no FOB present....

Ok, so I have noticed the rear brakes making a bit of noise when backing out of driveway and when applying brakes in low speed travel. Not a grinding sound, just the more audible sound emanating from the rear. So, decided to put the snows on and I see my pads are about halfway worn (noticed the aftermarket rear pads too). Dealer must've popped in new pads prior to delivery. Bought the car used 2 years ago and she had about 31K miles at the time. Now, I am at 61K and I see that the rotors are begining to delaminate. I am not surprised, she is 5 years old with over 60K miles...it is about what I expected. New rotors and pads from the local Advance Auto Parts store (buy 'em on-line, you get a 30% discount, and you can then go pick them up.) and related bits and pieces (new clips and rubber bellows for slide pins) and about 1 1/2 hours of driveway labor, total cost $105.00. She brakes like new and while I was at it, I put a new Interstate Mega-Tron II 65 series battery in while I was "wrenching". The O.E. battery tested out as "good" but was at 74% (I dont get it either, how can it be "good" at 74%). I don't like to wait until the battery is completely dead since that is usually around January when it is -10 degrees and the rig wont start. Snows on, back brakes done, new battery. I am ready...maybe tomorrow, I will run over to the transmission specialist and see about a flush and fill.

Have you taken it to the dealership to get it repaired? Or are you just gonna come here and complain about it.....I had the dreaded "door ajar" problem, and the dealer fixed it under warranty....stop crying and get it fixed.....likely, still under warranty....good luck "one post wonder"...doubt you will be back....

I run 91 octane in my 2011 MKX with the 3.7L....runs like a champ. Only reason why I run 91 is because it is available at my local filling station without ethanol.

Ok fellow MKX'ers....spring has sprung and the 20" Pirellis are back on as of yesterday 4/2/15....Spring tip, after you are done torquing your lug nuts, putting the summer carpeted floor mats in, and checking the air pressure, don't put the air gauge away until you check your spare tire....mine was probably never checked since it was installed in the car at the factory....it was at 34 psi when it is supposed to be 60 psi.....it is now properly inflated, and my mind is a little more at ease in the unlikely event I need to use it.

My guess is that MKT will continue on as MKT Town Car for livery fleets and limos.

I think MKT would benefit from a re-fresh along the lines of MKC and now MKX...

The 2.7L Ecoboost is also lighter and will give MKX a more "balanced" handling characteristic and not be as "nose heavy"....the 3.7L will appeal to fleets and liveries.

I doubt you'd see much of an improvement if the premium you buy has ethanol in it. Try to locate a station in your area that sells ethanol free fuels. Try this link Ethanol Free fuels / Ohio Hope you enjoy your MKX as much as I enjoy mine...

I have a 2011 and I get 21-23 average in what I call "mixed suburban driving". I always make sure I fill up with non-ethanol blends and one of my local stations just began offering 87 octane without ethanol as well....been running their premium that didn't have ethanol in it (E10) and with the addition of the 87 octane non-ethanol product, it gives me more choices.

Lincoln is also assisting them with the extras that are commonplace with other luxury brands....it is a unique relationship.

......it helps that I used to sell tires and was sent to Michelin tire training in Greenville SC....albeit several years ago. It just "torques" me when salespeople today try to oversell based on fear....sell your products and sell them with knowledge of what your customer needs....

I am coming up on my first year of ownership of my CPO 2011 Lincoln MKX and I am completely satisfied with not only the vehicle itself, but by the way my dealership treats me when I come in for routine service or to address an issue...always taken care of professionally and with utmost courtesy....

235/65/17's will work, I went with 245's since they were closer in overall diameter, but Edge standard size tire is a 235/65/17 so it will work on the car just fine. You can get by without the TPMS sensors but the TPMS light will be on all winter and I was able to get a set of genuine FoMoCo sensors with valve stems for $60 on eBay.

Ron, I just put a set of 17's on my 2011 MKX that came with the optional 20's....I went with 245/65-R17 Goodyear UltraGrip Ice WRT's. I got the rims out of a salvage yard from a 2005 Ford Five Hundred that were still in great shape. I cleaned the beads up and ordered some TPMS sensors on eBay and also got some open face lug nuts as the covered acorn nuts do not fit under the wheel center cap. By time I was done, I spent $800 total and to date, I absolutely love the performance I am getting...had some sloppy wintery mix on the road and the car handles with surefooted confidence.... My 2011 MKX began exibiting the dreaded "driver door ajar" message in the dash.....first appeared about a month or two after I bought the car (used) and they performed a "clean and reset" service to the door assembly and it worked fine, for a while. About 3-4 weeks ago, it began doing it again, so I brought it back to the dealer. This trip, they replaced the latch assembly (BT4Z-7821813-B ) under warranty. No problems....but.....a few days later, the door began to "whistle" when the HVAC fan was running....several return trips to the dealer for them to fix it. Very frustrating since it is one of those "whistling" noises that some cannot detect, but every time I had it in, they graciously offered me a loaner vehicle (always a Lincoln I would like to point out) Well...they finally tracked the problem to the ventilation tube in the door for the side glass defrosting vent....apparently, the tech that did the original job did not re-attach the door panel correctly making the fit a little loose internally...this caused a gap in the seam where the vent transitions from the dash to the door inside the panel and caused the HVAC system to push air between the panel and the door itself where it would escape from the inside rubber window seal causing the "whistling" sound. The dealership re-sealed the tube while there as well. All in all, I would say I am satisfied with the way the dealer accommodated me with the loaner and kept at it instead of trying to blow me off....but if any of you are going to attempt the repair yourself, make sure you get those vent tubes sealed back up and the door panel is back on 100%. If not, you might get some whistling sounds coming from the door area.

Same here Pepper....the ride is much more "compliant" with my Goodyears....and I am surprised at the overall quietness of the tire.

Snows went on the MKX today....ready for Ole Man Winter for sure....I am really happy with the way my winter tire rim project came out...I am also pleasantly surprised how quiet the Ultra Grip Ice WRT's really are... Installed and torqued to proper setting... Quick run to the car wash for a clean up... I got the answer to the worst Ole Man Winter has to offer....

Actually, I was going to have a local graphics shop make some decals with a Lincoln logo in it...but they kept trying to "bump" the cost...also, I really didn't like the red reflector get up, so I have some reflective black decal material coming...going to experiment with that...if I like it, I will snap some pics when I am done... EDIT: The black reflective decal material arrived today (10/20/14)...LOVE IT! Much nicer than the red...

Did a "test fitting" to ensure that there are no interference issues....there are none...they fit and look great! Original 20" with Pirelli Scorpion STR all season radials 17" Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT' s on 2005 Ford Five Hundred aluminum rims... Yes, I used a heat gun to remove the Ford logo decal and replaced it with a red reflective oval. Side by side of the Pirelli vs the Goodyear...

Updating now, dropped the prepped rims off at my local tire shop and will be picking the mounted snows up tomorrow. I will post pictures once I install them on the MKX....at the end of the day, I selected Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT's instead....$60 dollar rebate gets doubled when you use a Goodyear credit card and since I have the $$$ to pay for them anyhow, I will pay 'em off when the bill arrives and enjoy a $120 rebate instead. No brainer on that...and the best part is the "Made in U.S.A." label on the side of the tires.....

Ok...going to get some dedicated snows and rims for my 2011 MKX.....O.E. is the optional size 20" Pirellis, standard size is the 18" units...I scored a really good deal on some 17" Ford Five Hundred rims...same bolt pattern and offset for $50 per rim. Now for the snows....going with my personal favorite, General Alti-Max Arctics size P245/65-17....overall diameter of the 20" Pirellis are 29.6" and the 17" Generals are 29.5"....have new TPMS sensors coming ($60 for a new set of 4 with new valve stems)....last season, I was not impressed with the Pirelli Scorpion STR's in the winter, fine for the other three seasons...the General Alti-Max Artics are an awesome tire..I have had them on my last 2 Fusions and they were great....

Took my MKX on a trip to Atlantic City....just under 6 hour drive....very comfortable and well composed...plenty of power on the highway and was hitting 23-24 MPG running non-ethanol premium rolling on a steady 75-78 MPH....

I really thought it was a sharp vehicle...loved the more "mature" look of the cabin. It was clean, inviting, and intuitive....
