Gurgeh Posted March 2, 2019 Report Share Posted March 2, 2019 After having my Nautilus for a week, I'm thrilled with it so far. Sumptuous (Black Label) interior, astonishingly great twin turbo 2.7 V6 engine that really gets up and goes, smooth 8-speed transmission, wonderfully smart adaptive suspension that both holds the road (in S mode) and smooths out the awful roadways we have around here, even with these big 21" wheels (I almost swapped down to 20" through my dealer, but decided to take a chance on them because they look so great), intuitive Sync 3 infotainment system, cornering lights that actually work, etc. The main things I've had to get used involve physics and the space/time continuum. The former in that it is a little heavier than my old 2016 Q5, so I'm still learning cornering physics. It takes corners fine in S mode (which is pretty much all I use for around town driving), but differently. The latter in that it is both wider and longer, so I am taking my time maneuvering parking lots and narrow streets until I get an instinctive feel for the car's dimensions. Now, the (minor) nits. No side mirror blinkers? First time I've notice that. The other vehicles I cross-shopped (Audi Q5, Acura RDX, Range Rover Velar, Volvo XC60) had them as did the older Q5 I traded in. Since my preferred steering wheel position is low it can obscure the dash blinkers and I miss not seeing them on the side mirrors in my peripheral vision. But OTOH, the blinker sound is substantial, so I don't see myself forgetting and leaving them on after a lane change. No way to easily surf SiriusXM stations to see what else is playing without changing stations? Yes, I know you can pull up stations lists to show either artist or song name (but not both), but you have to dig down into three sub-menus in Audio to find it, which is not real practical when driving. Those blinding visor lights at night! Honestly, Lincoln, what were you thinking? I don't really use the visor mirrors at night (or during the day), but my wife does and she hates them as she finds they make it pretty difficult to actually see anything in the mirror. elijahbird7 Posted March 2, 2019 Report Share Posted March 2, 2019 I had one very odd thing happened after I picked mine up late yesterday. I stopped on my way home to grab something to eat, and it was dark. I noticed when I exited the car and pushed the lock button, the mirrors did not fold. When I went back to the car, there was no lighting as I approached and no Lincoln emblem on the ground either. I started it, went through the selections on the dash, and the auto folding mirrors was turned on. Then for some reason I pushed the button on the door for the right mirror and adjusted it slightly, then got out of the car and pushed the lock button, and then the mirrors both folded as they should. I then walked away from the car and then returned, and the lighting and emblem on the ground were working. So no idea how that situation happened, but it is now working every time as it should. Houtex Posted March 3, 2019 Report Share Posted March 3, 2019 After having a Nautilus loaner for ten days, I mostly loved it, but a few things were disappointing compared to my 2017 MKZ. No dedicated steering wheel heat button. The MKZ has one between the heated and cooled seat buttons. It took me a few days to even discover how to turn on the steering wheel heat on my loaner. Putting it on the LCD screen seems like an afterthought on the Nautilus. No dedicated air flow buttons for directing air to main vents and/or floor vents. The MKZ has them. On the Nautilus you have to go to LCD climate screen to select. Ambient lighting is much better on the MKZ. There are lighting strips along each door as well as above the glove box and instrument panel. These are very cool. I would have expected the Nautilus to have these strips. On the MKZ if you open a door while the car is running, the strip for that door turns red. Hopefully, these oversights will be addressed 8n the redesign in a couple of years. .
