Dead battery, FOB key doesn't work

Recommended Posts

Hey all.  First timer here.

I have a 2014 MKX and only one key fob.  The battery drained, but when that's happened before I've used the key from FOB, but that's not working this time.  It jiggles a little but won't unlock; I've tried WD40 to no avail.

I feel as if it's something pathetically easy that I'm missing, and I'm hoping to avoid a mechanic.  Can anyone help?

Try inserting the key and then turning it while also pulling gently on the door handle at the same time. Sometimes the lock cylinder just needs that extra bit of pressure to engage properly. Hope it helps
