bill G
Hey Guys...I own a 2009 Lincoln MKX thats giving me a charging issue.. You can drive the car fine with 13+ to 14.5 or so volts coming from the alernator and no battery light for about 10 minutes. Then the light comes on and the volts drop to under 12 and the car starts draining the battery......So I figured it was the alternator. I changed it, NO difference...I then figured maybe the battery was bad and put a new Die hard in..No difference...In doing some research on Google, I found it could be a bad PCM that regulats the voltage to the alternator, Changed the PCM had it programmed..SAME Issue! What can be my problem? All cables seem to be fine, Besides, If they were the problem, I'd have a charging issue when I first start the car not just when the car gets hot. I did notice that one of my cooling fans seems not to be running..Could that possibly be a issue? Maybe its a cooling thing in the motor compartment? I know the fans are to cool the antifreeze but could it possibly be that the engine camparment is getting hotter than normal and causing voltage drop from the alternator? Im at a loss here! Any info would be greatly appreciated!
