235301
I have an opportunity to purchase a 2016 MKX w/ 118k miles. 3.7L V6 AWD with all the bells and whistles on it(collison avoidance, etc). Was hoping some of you could chime in on the problems that this model presents. Currently have a BMW X3 2013 and ready to fire that thing directly into the sun w/ all the reliability problems it has had and will have. Looking for a reliable vehicle that can handle the mountains around here in the SE and won't leave me sitting on the side of the road on road trips. Would also like to add carplay/android auto to the vehicle, if anyone has experience with that would like to hear about it. Looking to make sure there aren't major engine reliability issues like timing chain or catastrophic failures. I am aware of the throttle issue(is this a repair and forget issue or does it keep occurring?). Is this the kind of car that if I keep up w/ maint it will run to 200k? I also recognize this was the first MY so that generally brings more problems.
akirby
Main issue is the water pump failing and taking out the engine but I think Ford revised the water pump to make it less likely. Changing coolant frequently will help. Edges with the same type of powertrain can easily go 200k-300k.
Jconnors
Hi, did you end up getting g the MKX? I’m looking at a 2016 with about 88k miles on it and wondering the same things you were!
