Welcome To Lincoln MKX - Lincoln Nautilus Forum: Gurgeh

Thank you!

While I currently own a 2016 Audi Q5 I plan to get the Nautilus as soon as it is available late summer/fall. The Q5 is a fine and surprisingly sporty SUV but the seats are so hard and uncomfortable they are causing me chronic hip and leg pain. Plus, I found on a recent road trip from Maryland to Colorado and back that my wife finds the ride a bit too harsh.

I narrowed my search down to the Volvo XC60 and the MKX. The new Volvo is the same size of the Q5 and it has all the latest bells and whistles, including heads-up display and air suspension. However, the seats while better don't match up to the Lincoln's and the ride is not all that much better than the Q5's. But perhaps most of all I like a few physical buttons and controls! Honestly, there's a reason states prohibit drivers from playing with an I-Pad (er, make that Sensus) when they drive, and that's what the XC60's controls basically come down to. To increase the heat from, say 71 to 72 one has to look at the screen, tap the climate icon, tap the +temp icon, and then tap the x icon to close out of the climate screen. And I prefer the smooth (and stronger) power, better sounding engine, and more assured handling with the MKX/Nautilus.

I might break down and go with the MKX and not wait if my hips can't take the Q5 any longer, but I do like the front end of the Nautilus and expect the new transmission will make power and handling even better. Still, it's mainly the same. It's a mid-cycle refresh, not a redesign.

Anyway, glad to join folks here and look forward to learning more about the vehicle in the next few weeks leading up to my purchase or lease.

Welcome Gurgeh.

Oh, I just love the Lincoln seats.  Even the Soft-Touch (faux leather) in the loaner Premier trim level was very good.

In your situation, I would hold out for the Nautilus unless I found an MKX with Luxury I Package and 22 way Seats.  I suspect Ford will have the Heated and Cooled Seats on the Nautilus fixed by the refresh (and I hear the F-150 seats work perfectly now)

Good luck.
