I ended up gluing it back on and I'll see what happens. I applied a very thin bead using a toothpick along the edge of the lens so that the glue only contacted the light assembly and not the car frame.

The lens for the third brake light (the one top/center) came off in my wife's hand. The light assembly works fine, just the lens/cover came off. It fits back on just fine but it looks like the thin sealant around the cover has decayed. Is there any issue with just applying a thin caulk bead and reinstalling the cover? Does the entire assembly need to be replaced? Thanks
