Double Beep!

2016 MKX Reserve.

When I close my door with the engine running I get a double beep from my horn. I know this is to warn me that I am leaving my vehicle running. But to me it is unnecessary. Is there any way to shut this feature off? Thanks!

Get used to it... Unless you get a one of those and start playing with the factory Parameter.  Sold my MKX before I used it.

I don’t know why this is so difficult.  Just don’t close the door all the way and it won’t honk.  Or turn it off.  Or leave the key inside.

This is completely wrong its the worst thing on the car absolutely awful design.

Its designed to make sure you don’t accidentally drive off without the key leaving the driver stranded somewhere and to prevent the vehicle from running inside a garage creating CO.    And it’s so easy to avoid by just hitting the button or not shutting the door.

I know it is a minor point but if I get out of my car to get the mail my door shuts because of the slant of the driveway. So I am guessing that there is no way to shut off this feature? Thanks anyway.

I just recoded a couple of asinine item on the X3 using a specialized OBD2 App  

 

Could not close the trunk using the key fob (really stupid) and the On/Off engine at a stop.

This is the worst argument akriby...is it really that big of a deal to crank a handle to open a window?   Nobody here says it's not needed the implantation is crap. I keep a key in my packet forgot something in the house BEEP BEEP. Run into 7-11 leave car running BEEP BEEP. Every other company has a nicer implementation followed by ford modifying theirs. Not sure why this is being defended as complaints keep coming.

Because it's SO easy to avoid.  Turn off the engine or don't shut the door all the way.   Could it be implemented differently so it's not so loud?  Sure.   But it's silly to complain about something with multiple simple workarounds.

I understand why people don’t like the double honk.  I never liked it myself.   But I don’t see the point complaining about something that is so easily avoided.

First time poster in this forum. Been in the F150 forum for years. I figured I’d chime in here as this is very easy to do using forscan (free software) and an ELM OBD adapter which can be found quite cheap on Amazon. I prefer the USB version over wifi or Bluetooth as I don’t want any interruptions when communicating with the vehicle. You can find different things you can add or change on various user created forscan spread sheets. Always remember to create backups of the original module before changing any of the coding in case something goes wrong. If it does you can just reload the original and start over. This is very easy to do and quite safe so long as you understand what you are doing. There are YouTube videos that show how to work with the software as well. This can also be used as a code reader which is far more thorough than your standard plug in style OBD2 reader. It should be noted that Ford/Lincoln tends to use a lot of the same coding across their vehicle line ups, so you will see commonalities in the various codes.  
 

This specific request lives in the body control module or “bdycm”. (This applies to 2014 and newer, possible on older models but on a different line). You will be looking for line

726-41-02 this will have 3 banks of numbers next to it, each containing 4 numbers like: XXXX  XXXX XXXX. These will be difference vehicle to vehicle but each has a purpose. In this case you will be changing the last number in the first group xxxX  xxxx xxxx from a “1” (enabled) to a “0”(disabled).  Then write the value, cycle ignition and magically you will no longer have the double horn honk. Hope this helps and didn’t confuse everyone lol.
