Hi Luis. I'd try to research the previous owners maintenance on the car.

Whats important are the plugs (book states 100k, but less is better, I'd recommend 90k); coolant (do a full flush and upgrade to new green; tranny flush and don't forget the cabin air filter.

Also don't forget to check the pressure in all tires, especially the spare (which is often overlooked).

If you have Sync 2, you can upgrade to Sync 3 with several widely available kits.

I meant to say "yellow" referring to the coolant, not "green". Just noticed my mistake, sorry for any confusion.

I have orange which I heard is discontinued. Is the new yellow alot better? I know my friend swears by older ford clear one that was out for awhile. Says it was the best coolant ever. If thats true why would they discontinue the clear one?

According to my local Lincoln dealer, Ford is only recommending the new yellow ( which is actually light green) coolant. (For all Ford products).

My dealer told me they no longer have the older coolants and can't even order the gold that my car was factory equipped with. (Questionable, but I was do for a change).

I ok'ed the change to the new yellow, but required a full flush in the process. (They said it wasn't required but I didn't buy it. Better safe than sorry...).

Is it better? Yup. Probably. Possibly.

I'd assume it has new qualities that are required for the new engine alloys and not bad for older engines.

Just remember that some older coolants,  such as gold, cannot be mixed with other types of coolants. Causes blockages in the heater core. (So full flush if you had gold or dark green, not flush needed if you had orange). Flull flush can't hurt so why not?

Never heard of a Ford Clear coolant. Sounds like he was referring to water. :Snicker:

enigma-2...you never heard of a Ford Clear coolant? Hmmm!

Back in the day at my favorite bayside Cabo San Lucas cantina (run by an ex-pat) where I often enjoyed straight mescal shots-with-lime-juice-licked-off-the back-of-the-hand, I noted one day when watching the bartender that the ordered shots were poured out of a 1 gallon TEXACO ANTI-FREEZE can from under the bar. A TRUE STORY about a 'clear coolant'.

An August 2020 backward compatibility Ford Bulletin approved the use of YELLOW (Spec. WSS-M97B57A1 or A2) as a replacement for the factory-fill ORANGE (Spec. WSS-M97B44-D2) listed on page 378 of our 2016 MKX Owner's Manual.

Haha. No although I'm guilty of adding adding bottled spring water occasionally...better than the rusty slew from my well.

I was referring to the "Gold" coolant. Guess I should have referenced the label color.

Lets not argue about the color of the actually coolant (I say clear) or it could lead to a discussion about the color of Cosmos pee before or after said drinks at the Cantina. ;)
