Is there a Time OUT on the Power Liftgate?

We have a strange problem with our 2016 MKX. All seems OK trying to close the Power Liftgate. However, if we leave it open for a few minutes, none of the buttons will close it. Not on the dash, the door or even the one on the lid itself. It goes a little way and stops. If it is pushed again it goes up. The only way to close it is to get out of the car and manually push it down.

We have noticed this as it always works except if we go to get grocery's at 2 separate stores and have them bring them to us at curbside pickup. So, is there a timer where it is deactivated after it has been opened for a time and can we configure it?

It does,  the trunk will not close with the fob in the SUV.  Happened to me a few times until I watch it happened.

Its a safety feature...  But since I can open the car using the keyboard I could do without it.

Not really funny after I come out and find the trunk open with $1000 of stuff in the trunk, thankfully nobody help themselves.

PDX97229, I have notice when I leave it open for sometime on a hot day, the hatch is more difficult  to manual close. The struts get hotter than normal. I always manually close the hatch if I'm at the rear of the vehicle to save the stress on the lift/close motor.   But that's just me!

OK, but that is not what is going on. She does have an oil change at the dealers and we can have him see what is going on and I will post if they find anything.

It's really easy to test at home.  Just pretend you're at the grocery store and follow the same steps including leaving the fob in the purse inside the vehicle.
