MKX2016
I have a 2016 MKX Reserve with auto folding mirrors. During the winter I would like to shut this feature off as it seems hard on the small motors and I have issues with them sometimes not folding in extreme cold weather. The manual shows how to turn off this "unfold mirrors" feature, however, when I go into the settings the option is not there. Has anyone else noticed this? And does anyone know if there is a fix for this ---- such as a firmware/software upgrade? Thanks
Rick
I have the same model and turned mine off by going to: Settings then Vehicle then Mirror. The option Autofold can be un-checked here.
MKX2016
Thanks for the reply Rick. Unfortunately when I go into settings/vehicle the "Mirror" option or the "Neutral Towing" option aren't there. I have one of the earlier models that was built in November 2015 (MyFord sync 2) so I suspect that the software was changed at some point; but I wondered if anyone would know that for a fact and if so; I wonder if there is some sort of upgrade that would make the mirror option available. sean_p_lynch
I would suspect that a dealer or a mechanic could set this manually by hooking your MKS and setting a code to on or off. This wouldn't be one of the OBD-2 codes for trouble that are the same across many cars. This would be a Ford/Lincoln specific code. A good mechanic would probably have the resources to find the correct setting and change it. A Ford.Lincoln dealer would surely have the ability. This may reset itself if the battery drains or is disconnected for a long time. If you can get whoever does the change for you to tell you what change was made, it will make it easier for you in the future.
tberg
At least your mirror folds back in most of the time. Our 2016 MKX Black Label's passenger side mirror bangs into the window continuously when the car is opened with a key fob and will continue to do so until the driver's door is opened or the car is started. If you don't do either, it would bang away for a whole day. Been into the dealer for 4 years on numerous occasions and it never got fixed. Finally, this week, they decided to order a new mirror. I don't think that will solve the problem because what stops it from continuing is the opening of the driver's side door which leads me to believe that an "impulse" in that mechanism is being sent to the passenger side and triggering the knocking. We'll see sometime in the future as the dealer can't seem to locate a mirror and then when it finally shows up, the car and mirror have to be sent to paint and body to march them up. enigma-2
Page 119 in the owners manual (1st edition). But it also states "Note:Some items are optional and maynot appear." I'd talk to your dealer and see if it's something that can be turned on.
MKX2016
Update: I took it to the dealer for a recall and told them about the mirror issue at the same time. The "idiot" at the desk tried to tell me it was an optional feature that my vehicle didn't have; but on my insistence he put it on the work order. The mechanic was able to find the problem and was able to turn the option on. So now it works and I can shut the mirror unfold feature on and off. However I didn't realize before left that the "Neutral Towing" feature was still not there. Oh well, guess I'll deal with that another time --- "next recall".
