McConaughey
Been through numerous noises on my MKX. Dash vibrations, undercarriage clips broken, driver door check creaking ( which was replaced) eventually led to excessive wind and road noise, panoramic shade grunting. Now when stopping or placing in park, the momentum is causing the gas in the fuel tank to swoosh and thump at an obnoxious level. I'm having my doubts at this point. NOTMY911
... the momentum is causing the gas in the fuel tank to swoosh and thump at an obnoxious level. Same with mine but not at the obnoxious level. My 2013 did not do that.
McConaughey
I took mine in for service today. My complaint about this was verified with the technician. I was told everything checked out per spec. I said I bought a car, not a rolling bath tub. Who else experiences this? Do I take it to another dealer? Fastfwd75
That's a new one. At least it only happens when parking. Mine is a 2016 and started having a high pitched whine when rolling but also when stopped at a light. It's not related to any climate fan; it does it even if I turn the climate off entirely. I think it must be related to the exhaust system but I can't figure out how. It is coming from the back of the car and it's not doing to 100% of the time but often enough to be very annoying on a car that price. Right now I'm thinking of trading it for a Jeep before the warranty is up; at least I will expect this one to be noisy; that or a BMW with a very long extended warranty. RRivera
I've noticed the very same gas tank sound. Can't say I've noticed it on any other car I've owned, but it doesn't bother me much. Think it's at its worst when the tank is half full. If full, I don't think I've noticed it much.
Cosmos36
It's a common occurrence on my MKX and the same with many other vehicles I've owned over several decades. No problemo...analogous to the occasional creaks in my home.
Adam
Yeah I’ve had 2 ‘16 MKXs and they both did it. It doesn’t bother me since I can make an allowance for noise related to the periodic sloshing of liquid in a large tank. Now, some of the interior squeaks, creaks and rattles I could do without! cafpaf
I have the same problem. It only occurs when parking in my garage. It is bothersome, but I don't believe that anything can be done about it.
walkabout
I've never had this problem in my 2016. The stereo does tend to be on e when I pull in though.

enigma-2
Keep your tank full. No sloshing. (And it's a good idea to do so in freezing weather).
NOTMY911
Keep your tank full. No sloshing. (And it's a good idea to do so in freezing weather). A better idea would be for Ford to come up with a better design... I never heard it on my 13, so something happen between the 13 version and the 16 version. McConaughey
Even with a full tank, I still hear it.
MKXMark
Maybe some insulation missing? My '17 doesn't do it.
Fastfwd75
I have been paying attention and never heard it on my 2016. I go from half tank to gas warning message every 1-2 weeks so I drive often with a partial tank but never heard that even backing up in the garage where all outside sounds are reflected to me by the walls. Missing insulation seems possible or maybe several suppliers make gas tannks and some of them are a different design?
Cosmos36
My MKX must be a maverick...the only times I ever hear the sloshing bumps is after refueling (to the first click) and then driving ~ 10 miles, i.e. when fuel is consumed in the fuel pipe and the tank is just under being completely full. The suspected cause was a redesign of the tank baffles from the previous MKX generation according to an obscure Lincoln statement that I read in the media shortly after I purchased in late 2015. akirby
Never heard sloshing on our 2016 Reserve. Then again we always have the radio on. My 2013 Fusion would knock for the first 20-30 miles on a full tank. They had already replaced the tank once because it wouldn’t hold enough fuel so I just let it go. enigma-2
Only noticed it once on my 2009. But i usually keep my tank full.
McConaughey
Update: I took it into another dealership per discussion with Lincoln concierge. The dealer contacted me today stating Lincoln released a TSB on December 14th concerning fuel tanks. Parts are now on order. Should be at dealer in a few weeks. My original service on this issue was December 11th. Hopefully this will remedy the sloshing and thumping.

McConaughey
Double post. How did that happen? Where's the delete button?
McConaughey
The fuel tank parts on order came in and not much improvement to be honest. The door check broke again which was reordered again. When brought in for repair, I was told the driver's DOOR WELDS ARE BAD, and a new door would be ordered. The door is on back order. According to the dealer that worked on my gas tank, has been waiting for a door for another customer since November!!! I contacted Lincoln concierge as I am fed up with this LEMON. Lincoln has no clue when a door will be available. I have no confidence in my car. I initiated the process for Lincoln to repurchase my '17 MKX as I label it a LEMON with too many issues. After Lincoln reviewed my case and service history, I was DENIED a repurchase. I was offered free tire rotations and oil changes for a few years for compensation. How pathetic can Lincoln be!! In the meantime, I drive with a drafty door, with wind noise, and quick condensation on window and windshield near driver's door. Unacceptable.
