ron123
I just picked-up a 2017 MKX last week and I am surprised to see and learn that the LED accent lights do not light during the day like other expensive luxury cars in this class. I have been checking various chat boards and have not seen any resolution to the issue of the MKX Signature Lights (by the headlamp assembles) not lighting during the day when the control switch is in 'auto' position. I have to manually use the 'parking' light position and remember to turn them off upon exiting the vehicle to get a simulated desired effect. Has anyone hear or come up with a resolution by having the dealer adjust, or must we revert to our own wiring changes? Thanks
akirby
Check the left hand menu. Our 2016 has an option to turn those on or off during the day. I know because my wife turned them off and I turned them back on. Edited January 22, 2018 by akirby VisionPilot

ron123
My only choices under Settings > Vehicle > Lighting is... > Auto Lamp Delay > 0 sec. > Welcome Lighting My 2017 MKX is a Premier AWD without DRLs which may make the difference. I will be going to the dealer later this week and will ask. Thanks again, Ron
ron123
I just called the Lincoln. Apparently the feature is only available with vehicles that have DRLs option. Please acknowledge if anyone had a success in getting these turned on without the DRLs installed. Thanks,

fredluke
That option is in the control module and set by the factory depending upon final destination country. Anyone with a Ford scan tool can switch that code. Here in Canada it is the law that DRLs remain on continually even at night when headlights are on. ron123
i just got back from the dealer. They were able to enable the DRL function through their software tool. Now the Signature Lights LEDs light up during the day without DRLs installed and the function can be controlled through the left hand settings. I would like to know if anyone was able to install the factory DRLs in their 2017 MKX. I see the knock-out plugs in the lower bumper and what appears to be a cable with a socket behind that area. Any info would be appreciated.
akirby
What do you mean by factory DRLs? The LED signature lights are the DRLs, at least in the states.

The DRLs include the signature lighting strip under the headlight as well as a row of lights lower on the bumper. thisguy159 and VisionPilot
akirby
The DRLs include the signature lighting strip under the headlight as well as a row of lights lower on the bumper. Oh ok. I thought those were both included in the “signature led lights”. I thought he was talking about installing regular halogens.
ron123
I just purchase a 2017 MKX Premier and it did not come with the factory installed DRLs in the lower bumper, only what Lincoln calls Signature Lights which are located around the headlamps. I had to have the dealer activate the DRL function in the software so that the Signature Lights would operate during the day when in 'Auto Lamps' mode. I have been looking into installing the DRLs in the lower bumper and need to determine if the wiring is in place. I hope my understanding is correct. Feedback welcome. akirby
It’s possible but Ford doesn’t usually install extra wiring so don’t be surprised of the wiring isn’t there. Check fordparts.com and see if there are different harnesses.
ron123
I just learned from the model year and built date that the AN engine harness to the headlamps and DRLs is not available for my Premier model. ron123
Has anyone tried to install the factory DRLs (LEDs below the headlights) after market?
ron123
Here's a related posting that I posted on the MKC Forum... I have found myself in a similar situation wanting the factory DRLs in my 2017 MKX Premiere and was told by the dealer that the wiring did not exist in the Premiere so I was planning on purchasing an aftermarket control module to power the factory DRLs. Seeing the cutouts in the lower bumper area inspired me to purchase a factory DRL assembly. I removed the lower splash panel and was immediately faced with obstructions but did note that there was a wired mating connector in place that should plug into the DRL. Seeing the obstructions I backed out of my attempt and simply replaced the splash panel. I also purchased the MKX 2017 Factory Wiring manual and learned that pin-1 is the + and pin-6 is the - on the 6-pin DRL connector which would be useful in connecting the after market controller. I don't know if I was successful in installing the DRL if it would have worked with existing wiring. I did have the dealer program the Signature LEDs around the head lamps light during the day in DRL mode. Please let me know if anyone was successful in getting the OEM DRLs installed. I realize that this is a MKC forum but thought it may help others.Regards, rlh
thisguy159
Had the same exact issue when I got my 16 have you been living with it for that long? I actually had my car in 3 or 4 times there is a post here somewhere about it. Anyways they replaced speaker grill something else it think but never went away I wanted a new door but they don't seem to keen on it so I went to the concierge and told them my issue got a new dealer ...woodfield Lincoln and they basically had a more resourceful way of getting at the problem...put a washer/gasket somewhere against the grill and between the assembly (on mine you could hear the grill love when I hit it with my finger) and haven't had an issue since. Had the mirror replaced which required removal of trim but luckly issue didn't come back. Good luck. Your dealers solution is shit.
ron123
Finally figured it out.... I purchased a 2017 MKX Premiere without DRLs in the lower bumper. I had the dealer enable Daytime Running Lights through the software to which enable the headlamp Signature lights to light during the day (in Auto Mode). Purchased a factory DRL assembly and learned that wire assembly 15K867 with connector 129/130 exists in my MKX. Removed the splash pan to gain access to the connectors. Plug in the DRL assembly into one of the connectors. Tested by enabling DRL in Configurable settings in Auto Mod then placed vehicle in 'N' and made sure that the headlamps were not lite. The DRLs did not light. So the DRL is defective or there may be an additional setting code required through the software. Please let me know if anyone has any additional suggestions.
