Update to Lincoln iPhone App

I have installed the latest update that was pushed out to the Lincoln App on the iPhone. The what's new description includes information that says it will now enable the MKX to become a mobile hotspot, that it will provide a tire pressure gauge and distance-to-empty information. I have not been able to "see" any of the new features on the app. Has anyone else used the updated app? If so, where can the new features be found?

When you open the app select "My Vehicle"; slide screen (picture of your car) from right to left. You will now see fuel, mileage (with next service info), and tire pressure which will only show "monitoring" unless there is a low reading, and oil life. Not sure this has menu changed at all

Regarding the hotspot, you have to go through your carrier. I use AT&T and they will add your MKX to your plan for $10/mo for 3 G, degraded at 20+ gigs. They also have a three month free trial. I haven't signed p (yet) so I don't know the details such as whether anything needs to be done in the car, etc.

We noticed this update on our iOS devices as well, but we haven't seen any of the features take flight in our 2017 Lincoln MKX's. No SYNC 3 update in the car (still on 2.2). We were expecting to see some update in the car.

Our biggest wishlist is CarPlay data on the gauges. Like the speed limit, etc.

Hoping to see those new features in the app soon though! We figured it was because we are in Canada, and figured the new update was US-exclusive.

Just received an update to the app which now states you can send POIs to nav system from a mobile device. Can’t see that in the app anywhere. Anyone else figure out how this works.

We have been searching too. I couldn’t even get the door ajar notification to work when remote locking, so I’m not sure if there’s some kind of update that needs to be applied to the vehicle? So far, the last two updates boast about features I can’t find anywhere.

Apparently, the new features in the Lincoln Way app require SYNC 3 version 2.3 or higher, which is coming in some new vehicles but is not available as an update for 2016 MKX's yet. If you update to SYNC 3 Version 3.0 using the link in the forum, it should work with that firmware.

Updated Sync a few weeks ago, newest version of Lincoln app today. Can’t see any differences.

Yeah, I just updated my SYNC 3 to version 2.3 today and still don't see the features. I contacted the Lincoln Concierge and they informed me the modem needs to be updated in the vehicle in order for the new features to work. I was told to ask them to perform an update/diagnosis on the TCU unit.

Not really sure what the modem has to do with features when the phone is plugged directly into the vehicle but I guess it's worth a shot.

Thanks for the timely post.  My MKX is in the shop today having the glove box mechanism replaced.  I just called and asked them to perform the TCU update while it was in there.  Hopefully that will add the new features.

Good timing! Are you able to let us know if it makes any difference? Would love to know if I should get this done on my next service visit. Unless it’s automatically included.

I'll pick up the MKX tonight after work.  Will let you know.  I'm currently running Sync 3 version 2.2 and have the CarPlay upgrade.

So the shop hooked the MKX up to their computer and it said all systems were up to date, so no TCU update for me.  And no change in the functionality of the mobile app.  :(

Ah bummer. Thanks for taking the jump and asking for the update and letting us know though.

Maybe we will see something soon.

Yea, the service manager said that while there was no update today, doesn't mean one will be released tomorrow.  Guess we will all have to keep watching....

I did the update from Sync3 version 2.2 to 2.3 yesterday by wi-fi. Just wanted to see how long it would take, and it was over two hours+. I had downloaded it onto a flash drive from my computer, but just wanted to see how it went with wi-fi. Probably not make that choice again...

Can you try upgrading your SYNC 3 system to v2.3? Maybe your TCU already came the latest version and your SYNC system needs to still be updated? The upgrade should be available on the SYNCMyRide website.

Speaking of SYNC 3 v2.3: does anyone use CarPlay and have this update installed? I just installed it on my MKX, and scrolling lists (or the map) by swiping my finger seems to be very choppy. I went ahead and did a master reset of the SYNC system, but the issue remains. The other MKX in our household is still on SYNC 3 v2.2, and the same phone is buttery smooth when scrolling lists or swiping on the map on CarPlay.

I shot an email to the Lincoln Way Concierge team, and I'll see what they come up with. I haven't done a heck of a lot of troubleshooting since it's a minor issue, but it's definitely become noticeable since I've updated SYNC.
