walkabout
Just curious: What kinds of loaners have MKX owners received, and what did you think of the vehicles you had?
fredluke
Yesterday battery went dead... Towed car to dealer and sent a courtesy shuttle to pick me up once at the dealer they immediately offered a 2014 MKX as a loaner. Love the service!! walkabout
Ok, guys. I don't want to just hear what you got, I want to read about your impression. What do MKX owners think of the loaners they are receiving? I've received an MKZ and MKC. I was impressed with the handling and acceleration on the MKZ, and liked the seats. I thought the interior material and fit and finish were MEH with a capital M. Honestly, the MKZ with top notch materials would be a real winner, and would soundly thrash the FWD competition from Volvo, Audi, and Lexus. The MKC is a lot easier to drive than my MKX because of the size. But, it does feel really tiny inside and I REALLY miss the blindspot detectors. Overall, I like vehicles like the competition form Lexus and Acura more.

thisguy159
2016 Navigator (complete POS) 2016 MKX 2016 MKC 2016 very nice I enjoyed to 4 cylinder in both this and the MKZ MKZ (nice but old Sync and tight for space vs competition - don't see a real reason to get a 3.7 in this car I had both options and AWD too) Edited November 3, 2016 by thisguy159
akirby
Wasn't too impressed with the MKZ - almost preferred my Fusion.
arug
2015 MKZ (felt it was small, has good pickup) 2015 MKC (A/C seats cooled better then my MKX) Both didn't ride as nice Overall, prefer my X
VisionPilot
After I got rear ended; http://lincolnmkxforum.com/topic/1492-accident-repair-estimate-vs-real-cost/?hl=cost I got a brand new Grand Cherokee from Discount Rental. Thank God it was only for 2 days... Curious what you thought of the Grand Cherokee, how did it compare? I noticed that they sit considerably higher than the MKX. Had a 2017 MKC for 3 weeks while my MKX went in the shop almost immediately after purchase. When I first hit the road in the MKC, I found it easier to maneuver and and the 2.0 liter EB was quite peppy. While I found the dash a little cheesy compared to the X though.... but road isolation and feel was excellent.... at first, I thought, is this a little quieter and more subdued than my X? After 3 weeks, upon getting my X back, it definitely confirmed what I initially thought. The C does ride more car like, with better road isolation, less yacht like pitching than the X. Not by much, but just a tad. I'm guessing that the subtle difference in ride may be due to the C not having to carry as much load as the X, and therefore, softer springs. I also liked that the MKC retained the last cooled seat setting at the next startup. I hate having to always cycle through the cooling settings on the X every time I start it up. The MKC also had the digital speedo option in the menu system. Edited November 3, 2016 by VisionPilot
mfam16
2015 & 2016 MKX (the '15 was just bad when comparing it to the '16) 2016 MKZ for such a large car it felt small inside 2016 Navigator (too big and very floaty ride. Also felt like car tilted /leaned too much for my taste in every turn)
walkabout
Vision pilot,I have the mkc in my driveway now. I mostly have similar impressions. I really am enjoying the smaller size. Feels more car like. I don't think there is enough room for my needs though. I can barely fit my bike in the back. Driving the mkz, mkc, and mkx, it's really noticeable how much work lincoln needs when it comes to interior materials. The sense that all the cars (including my loaded mkx reserve) have is lots of hard cheap plastic with sheets of pleather our other surfaces stapled on top. I feel hard shiny surfaces in all the cars and some sharp edges. The mkx is the only one of the three that had an interior I could live with. At least with the mkz and mkx, the performance is on par with the competition, and all of the cars have really clever features. So far, I've not been hugely impressed with lincoln customer support either. VisionPilot

Part of the reason there may be more road feel in my MKX as compared to the '17 loaner MKC I had, may be due to the different wheel/tire size and profile. My MKX has 20" wheels with 50 series tires, while the MKC had 18" wheels and I believe, 60 or 65 series tires; which would absorb road joints and paving strips better. Cosmos36
Depending on trim levels, the 2017 MKC available tires are listed as 235/50/18, 245/45/19, and 255/40/20. Caveat: different websites portray differing tire sizes, one even listing a 17" tire and another listing a tire size that may not even be manufactured. elijahbird7
I was given a 2016 MKX with 3100 miles on it. Had the same 2.7 as mine, but fewer options. The only thing I found strange was that the brakes on the loaner were way more sensitive than on my car. Otherwise, it was pretty much like driving mine except it had the black interior v/s my light interior.
Southerngravy
Recent swing by the dealership netted me a 2017 MKC 2.3 Reserve. Took long enough to get one, just to change out my peeling wheels.
walkabout
I have an el-stripo MKC now. I'm not impressed by the ride quality at all, feels very busy and lacks that glued down feeling of the MKX. In most other respects, I like the car a lot though. I honestly think the size makes a lot more sense for my own needs. I also think it has much better visibility. And, I also really like the seats and find the bottoms to be quite a bit more comfy than the MKX. Mine has the 2.0 Turbo with FWD. So, there is talk steer, and turbo lag. Funny, Consumer Reports (and, yeah, I know that I treat those guys with too much respect - its just one opinion) HATED the MKC. I think its a pretty nice ride. Adam
Walkabout, I'm assuming you are a smaller-framed individual. I'm over six feet with an imposing build, and I simply could not get comfortable in the C. My left elbow fell a few inches behind the armrest, my right foot kept hitting the console when I would go from brake to gas. The left bolster on the seat made my leg go to sleep during the test drive. With the 2.3 it was quite go-cart like but it was buzzy. All in all, glad I held out for the MKX. akirby
I'm surprised there was turbo lag on the 2.0. I have the older version in my Fusion and it's really peppy right off the line - no discernible lag at all. It does run out of steam at higher rpm though. walkabout
Yeah, I'm only 5'10". I often have had ruin issues because the height is all in my torso. But, legroom is never a factor. Curious, do you find the mkx's seats confining? They are rather narrow.
walkabout
Akirby, I drove a mkz with the 2.0t two weeks back. I did not experience any lag. Didn't get it up to high rpm much. The mkc is a but heavier though and, at least in the fwd version (mine had the base tires too)it might nut get pier to the ground as efficiently. I like the fusion a lot. One of my favorite vehicles in the segment. Edited November 8, 2016 by walkabout
Adam
^ yes, a bit narrow due to their width, but 9 times out of 10 I am able to center myself within the side bolsters. Let me put it this way, the bottom cushion bolsters are completely deflated in my multi-contour! One thing I am noticing about the upgraded seats is that I feel that I'm sitting up higher in the seat than the standard ones, even though it's lowered to the floor as much as possible. I was fiddling with the settings this morning and found myself staring out of the very top of the windshield, but had only raised the back portion a small amount.
