MKX Insurance Rates

I read on one of the posts where someone's MKX insurance rates dropped from their previous Edge.

Strangely, mine also dropped. In the past every time I purchased a new vehicle the rate always increased. The only other person I know with the new MKX also said his dropped when he traded in a 2013 MKX. I'm definitely not calling my agent to find out why in case someone somewhere made a mistake. Could it be the optional safety features? The replacement cost of the vehicle is much higher that a 2013. Strange!

Anyone receive a similar discount?

Any ideas?

It was mine that dropped about 30 per year when I went from my Edge to my 2013 MKX. Since then it's been steadily creeping up.

My theory is that Lincoln drivers are, on average, more 'mature' and this have better ratings than your more age-diverse Edge owners.

As I was reading this thread, it just occurred to me that if my assumption is correct many MKX owners (1) don't accumulate a lot of miles annually and (2) don't commute daily, (3) are multiple vehicle owners and home owners subject to bundling discounts, and (4) are empty nesters (no young drivers in household), all factors which contribute to lower rates.

True, location and driving history play a large part in ins rates. I haven't had an accident since 1963 (driverless vehicle collision) and I live in a rural subdivision outside a metro growth boundary. ..full coverage $500 deductible AARP ins rate on MKX is $612 annually.

$612 ANNUALLY???  Insurance is "renewed" every 6 months so are you saying $306 every 6 months or were you quoting $612 forgetting its usually a 6 month rate?  If you pay $612 annually I should move where you live.  Perfect record and I pay almost that every 6 months.

I think a lot does depend on where you live.  I'm in Iowa.  For my 2013 Ford Edge, I currently pay $514 annually (deductibles - $250 comp / $500 collision).  And in Iowa you can pay the premium annually.  I'm an early 40's driver with no major accidents.  I'll be happy if the MKX that will be arriving soon stays around that amount.

Wow that is cheap. I pay close to $1,300 per year and that's actually an excellent rate given my particulars. Don't you have an exorbitant annual registration fee in Iowa, though? I guess that would factor into your 'transportation costs'.

Yes, probably.  My annual registration fee on the Edge Limited is $368.  I expect the MKX to be about $480.  As a rule of thumb in Iowa, you can expect to pay about 1% of the MSRP of the vehicle, not including options.  So the base MKX AWD Reserve lists for about $48,000.

I'm curious, what is yours if you don't mind sharing?

Ontario is flat rate, the amount escapes me... $80 or so I think.

Oregon is an inexpensive state for vehicle drivers: $52.50/year registration & DEQ (issued for a 2 year period @ $105.00), no sales tax, no personal property tax, reasonable ins premiums, but fuel costs are a few cents higher due to refineries only in California & Washington. Chevron fuel arrives from California by ocean barge, all other gasoline 'brands' come from Washington via a single pipeline (LOL...so much for brand differences except detergents added at end-of-pipe distributors).

Was...

But thanks to you know who, its now $108 going to $120 on the 1st of Sept.

Ah.  Must be one of the new 'revenue tools' she has been conditioning us to.  I guess it's not bad enough to have the highest electricity rates in NORTH AMERICA.

Ya but that's $1300 CAD$ so your annual premium would be $950.00 US

Mine is close $965 US per year.

Not really...  Twice the price of Montreal but half the price of New York or Boston.

But only PEI (island) and Halifax (they turn down Nuclear from New Brunswick) are more than Ontario but its an island.
