glbcmb
I have a 2007 MKX. Its Fall 2014 heat does not work. Took the car to dealer, suspected heat core plug, $1,800.00 replace core flush. No warrentee, out of date and time. Dealer does not want to do only flush, just full boat. Options: Whom do I call for obvious warrantee that manufacture does not want to cover. Flush system, maybe over pressure reverse flow until clog is removed, myself., Pay dealer and wait for squeek and rattle of dash 10,000 miles down the road. Scrap vehicle, 147,000 miles no other issues. HELP. Edited November 18, 2014 by glbcmb
tomhoffmann
Take it to an independent garage- They use a "super flush" plus power back wash worked like a charm on my Pontiac 4 years ago should work on your MKX and a lot less expensive at 147000miles and no problems -The vehicle doesn't owe you anything. I also have a 2007 MKX with 104000 miles. Besides tires and brakes I've replaced the PTO unit which is a common problem and I'm very pleased with the vehicle and we'll probably buy another MKX to replace this one -- Hope that this helps
Robert
How about a Pep Boys store?
tomhoffmann
I wouldn't go to Pep Boys I don't even think that they would take the time to mess with it- go to an independently owned garage where you are talking to the guy who owns the place and has a reputation to maintain, Might cost a few more bucks but it worth it in the long run CARR142
Bobbcatt
I am in the process of changing my water pump, this was the cause of my heater not working. I flushed the system and all the parts I took off were full of corrosion. I did a back flush on the heater core, it was full of gunk.... after all that, I realized coolant was NOT flowing at all. Anyone else have a water pump issue?
enigma-2
Could try it yourself. I'd allow around 3 hours for the soak (or maybe repeat 2-3 times) with a good quality acid bath. He uses water, I'd go with distilled. Dollar a gallon at the supermarket. Also recommend the new fomoco green for the replacement. Supposed to be better than thd original gold in your car.
