  1. Agreed. For what it’s worth though, Lincoln has just resumed the official modem upgrades this past week.
  2. Thanks! This'll help a lot. My dealer has indicated that Lincoln has temporarily paused the official 3G to 4G modem swaps at the moment due to configuration issues, so this may be my only route for the foreseeable future.
  3. Hey Laminar, Thanks for the pictures and the information! I think I'm going to tackle a self upgrade to 4G as well. Based on your information, it seemed to pretty much be a direct swap without programming changes. I don't suppose you know the part number of your TCU? I've found a few TCU's from Escapes and other vehicles, but I'm not sure if they'd all be a smooth swap like this. They're all 14G087 or 14G299's, but their prefixes and suffixes are all different. Just curious if the 2018 MKX you got your TCU from shares it with any other vehicles. I'd prefer to try to match your TCU to hopefully gain the same experience you had. Appreciate any assistance!
  4. Agreed. Absolutely love CarPlay. Makes it a breeze to use all kinds of features without the hassle of breaking out a study guide on voice commands.
  5. CarPlay was responsive after about 10 seconds or so, but there'd be some choppiness prior to the end of that 10 second period. That was eliminated with SYNC3 v3.0. Now when CarPlay activates (within about 2 seconds of SYNC 3 starting), it's extremely responsive. However, I just tested again in both our MKX's and it definitely did alter the fans speed. The fan has to be on high for this to be noticeable (you can manually crank up the fan to max and then activate Siri). It also now hands over Low Fuel notifications to Siri/CarPlay so a notification will now appear on CarPlay and on your iOS device or Watch when you leave the car.
  6. This is a pretty solid update for both of our MKX's, apart from a few glitches. Apple CarPlay is much quicker to start and much more responsive. I also like (not sure if it did this before) how it slows down the fans in the car when using Siri so she can hear you better. Since we prefer CarPlay over SYNC's native functions including audio, we absolutely love this update. Only one of our MKX's were getting the Wi-Fi notification, which is odd. I believe it's stopped now too. I've found the system to feel a lot more polished now as well.
  7. The more I read the app update release notes, the more I think that the majority of these new features are limited to the 2018 model year vehicles. For example, for all the navigation functionality (e.g. using mobile device for up to date map info, sending POI's to navigation system from your iPhone, etc), they've put the number 7 beside the new feature list as a disclaimer. Looking at the main app details, (7) indicates: "Only available on 2018 Lincoln vehicles." Now, that doesn't seem to be applied to the update that introduced the tire pressure gauge (which is oddly coupled with a 'distance-to-empty' feature which I've had since long before this update). It also doesn't seem to be applied to the update about remote locking when the door is ajar, although I haven't tried remote locking lately with an ajar door. The first time I did it, on SYNC 3 v2.2 as soon as the app update came out, it seemed to say Vehicle Locked even when the door was ajar.
  8. Speaking of SYNC 3 v2.3: does anyone use CarPlay and have this update installed? I just installed it on my MKX, and scrolling lists (or the map) by swiping my finger seems to be very choppy. I went ahead and did a master reset of the SYNC system, but the issue remains. The other MKX in our household is still on SYNC 3 v2.2, and the same phone is buttery smooth when scrolling lists or swiping on the map on CarPlay. I shot an email to the Lincoln Way Concierge team, and I'll see what they come up with. I haven't done a heck of a lot of troubleshooting since it's a minor issue, but it's definitely become noticeable since I've updated SYNC.
  9. Ah bummer. Thanks for taking the jump and asking for the update and letting us know though. Maybe we will see something soon.
  10. Good timing! Are you able to let us know if it makes any difference? Would love to know if I should get this done on my next service visit. Unless it’s automatically included.
  11. We have been searching too. I couldn’t even get the door ajar notification to work when remote locking, so I’m not sure if there’s some kind of update that needs to be applied to the vehicle? So far, the last two updates boast about features I can’t find anywhere.
  12. We noticed this update on our iOS devices as well, but we haven't seen any of the features take flight in our 2017 Lincoln MKX's. No SYNC 3 update in the car (still on 2.2). We were expecting to see some update in the car. Our biggest wishlist is CarPlay data on the gauges. Like the speed limit, etc. Hoping to see those new features in the app soon though! We figured it was because we are in Canada, and figured the new update was US-exclusive.
  13. Thanks for the replies! This definitely helps give me some direction. Yes, it's the 102A Reserve package + the other options I mentioned. Did you end up doing the Driver Assistance Package, and do you find it worthwhile? My primary concern right now for that is the production delay that is present on MKX's ordered with the assistance package. EDIT: Just saw your signature and noticed that you did get the assistance package. Oops! Sidestep here: Are you still happy with your MKX? Did you get your 2016 before this past winter? Were you pretty happy with its performance in snow/other crappy weather?
  14. Hey there, I've been lurking the forum ever since I found myself looking into a Lincoln MKX. This is my first car purchase on my own; however, I'm planning on buying it from the dealer my dad always deals with who seems to give us a pretty good deal that we're usually happy with. That said, I wouldn't be against getting some numbers from the experts on here just so I know a good starting place. I'm planning on buying in Toronto, but I reside in Barrie and am willing to travel. Looking at: 2017 Lincoln MKX Reserve - 2.7L GTDI Engine ($2,950) - 13 speaker Revel Audio ($1,250) - Technology Package ($1,100) - Enhanced Security (seems like worthwhile features for just $75, but I really don't have an interest in it) - Midnight Blue Sapphire - Cappuccino seats (from what I can tell, this is free in Canada) Trading in a 2011 Ford Escape Limited V6 with Nav. I would prefer to take delivery from factory rather than lot, which I know probably gives up some of my bargaining chips. From what I've read, 4-5% off MSRP seems to be the minimum/expected range. Any tips? This still looks like the best looking car on the road in my opinion. Also looking for any input on the 13 speaker Revel Audio system. I test drove the base system and it sounds great. Is the 13 speaker Revel worth the $1,250? Looks like MSRP with freight is about $57,875. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give to a complete newbie!
