    Auto Start Stop.

Not strange...just cantankerous, irritating, and questionably essential.

    Auto Start Stop.

Not strange at all. There are over a dozen reasons why It won’t engage. Typically it’s either climate control or battery charge.

    Shifter assembly

I have a 2014 Ford Edge and in July 2017 it kept showing it wasn’t in park! Evens though it was. They replaced the shifter assembly and I had to pay $100.00 deductible. Now February 2020 the same thing is tore up again. Now my extended warranty is expired and it’s going to cost of $500.00... How or why are there no recalls on this? I have seen several people say the same thing about thief 2014 Edge.. this is ridiculous

    Auto Start Stop.

There have been a few times I have forgotten to push the off Start/Stop switch, and for some reason it stays off for about 5 starts before it goes back on again. The first time I noticed it was when I didn't turn it off and came up to a train crossing stop. I assumed the engine would stop since I forgot to turn it off, but it didn't. So I just shut it off myself. Then ran a few errands and didn't turn it off, and about 5 starts it stayed off, but eventually it did turn itself back on.. I found that kind of strange...

    Auto Start Stop.

There is a way to turn if off permanently. You need to add a jumper to the stop switch. In essence, the stop switch becomes engaged each time you start the car. It may take a little research to determine which posts on the switch to jumper (if more than 2 posts exisit).

    Climate Control BUTTONS Question

I you press the fan button then auto turns off. This happens either on the screen or on the panel below. You then can change your fan speed, direct air upper or lower, etc. I think this is all perfectly normal. My 1997 Mark VIII worked the same way.

    Auto Start Stop.

I always turn the Start/Stop off.. it's quite easy to remember to push the off switch just after pushing the Start switch. I do this because I live in a suburban area and never drive during rush hour. The 2.7 V/6 seems smooth though the few times I have forgotten to turn it off.

    Climate Control BUTTONS Question

That sounds like a temporary glitch in the system.

    Climate Control BUTTONS Question

Are you crazy? No! I encountered the same scenario when attempting to change settings manually while the engine was warming up but prior to reaching operating temperature. I was perplexed by the situation, trying unsuccessfully to figure it out functionally in my mind and pressing various button combinations randomly. Finally, I was successful but couldn't recall the means that would enable me to ever repeat the 'code'. Perhaps, for example, the engine reaching normal temperature triggered some message to the system...??? Back in the day of 4-speed Chevy Cavaliers, I (and the dealer's service manager accompanying me on a ride) were totally baffled by why the automatic tranny would intermittently fail to shift into high (4th) gear on the freeway & would shift in/out 3rd & 4th for several miles, especially in cool weather, seldom on long, hot trips. The dealer's service dept. finally gave up on the issue, followed by the Regional Rep quitting also. Finally, after a few weeks of angry driving (and poor gas mileage), I figured the problem out after reading an article on the many functions of the 'newfangled' computers in vehicles of the day. I began to put two & two together as it related to my Cavalier tranny issue and finally had a Voila!!! moment. The shifting problem was all caused by a defective thermostat in the cooling system not permitting the engine to reach a temperature which would signal the tranny that it was OK to shift from 3rd to 4th. It was actually an emissions regulating function that held the tranny in 3rd gear, i.e. at elevated RPMs to heat the coolant quicker in order to adjust the fuel mixture to a leaner, less pollution-emitting mixture. In cool weather the car's coolant would not warm up enough to signal the computer to permit the shift to 4th with lower RPMs & lesser emissions. I installed a new thermostat and informed the dealer of my findings. A letter of thanks from the Regional Rep followed. Sorry for digressing. But, as I was messing with the MKX heating/AC controls, I was reminded of the Cavalier incident and how modern vehicle programming can contribute to confounding intuitive operations.

    Climate Control BUTTONS Question

I should clarify, normally I could turn off AUTO by hitting the + - on the fan or turning on the defrost. I wasn't able to do either of those things when the problem occurred.

Thanks for your response! I tried the hard reset and it did not correct the issue. Full disclosure, I just purchased the vehicle from Carvana and the vehicle tells me everytime I start it that there is an issue with the parking aid (probably a bad sensor). Which I pointed out to their associate & he told me their warranty will pay to fix it. I will confirm this once repairs have been made (appt monday). Thanks again, Chris

    Climate Control BUTTONS Question

Up until yesterday, I've been able to press the "AUTO" button to switch between auto climate and manual climate controls. Yesterday, the button was on and blowing AC. When I went to turn it off (I wanted heat), the button (and light) wouldn't turn off. I happened to be going to the dealer for an unrelated issue, so I asked them to check it. I showed them what it was doing, so they could verify my concern. Today, they say they compared it to a 2020 model and that my car is operating as normal. I shouldn't be able to turn off that light or the "AUTO" control without either turning off the entire climate system, or changing the settings through the touch screen. Am I crazy? Can anyone else verify that I should be able to turn the climate from "AUTO" to manual just by clicking the button? Thanks in advance!

    Rear Lift Gate Support Struts

My '16 closes with a thud also, actually I feel reassured it's closed, I'm not used to these self closing hatches yet!

    Rear Lift Gate Support Struts

If your concern with the hatch struts is the 'thud' at closing (one previous owner here referred to the closing as a "crash"), my experience with the current generation of MKX-Nautilus vehicles is that the noisy/abrupt hatch closing is normal albeit intrusive. I don't believe there is any adjustability to the strut function. As a word of caution if you're considering DIY replacement, the struts contain a pre-loaded spring. Also, I would assume that the part number remains the same across all trim models of your MKX.
  21. Does anyone have the instructions for programming a 2017 MKX fob (when you have two admin keys already)? Above, schwagman88 posted a link to a page on Lincoln's site but that page is no longer available and I didn't have luck when contacting Lincoln directly. Additionally, does anyone know if the M3N-A2C31243300 (has keyring attached in pic) and M3N-A2C90478000 (no keyring in pic) can be paired for use on the same vehicle? fkggl1ef.bmp 0xcer224.bmp

Aren't you under warranty? Might be different North of the 48th parallel as we got 4 years bumper to bumper.

I don't know if it's related or not but I see your sensors are shut off. Turn them back on and see if it happens. If it still happens try a soft reset (Press the Volume / Power knob and the "next track" button next to the CD at the same time for 5 seconds) and if that doesn't work a hard reset.

    Rear Lift Gate Support Struts

Are the rear lift gate support struts adjustable in any fashion? I ask because when my deck lid closes it does so with a drop of about 4 - 6 inches from the bottom. Also, can these things be replaced and if so does anyone know the correct part number. I checked ford parts direct. com but am unsure as to which ones are for my vehicle. It is a 2017 reserve MKX. As always, thanks for the help.
  26. While engine is running, I get a popup when switching screens (wifi screen to home screen). The popup is an image of my vehicle (2017 MKX reserve) and in the middle of the vehicle it depicts a red exclimation mark (image attached). It also does this everytime I stop and take off from a stop (doesn't matter what screen I'm on). Has anyone seen this and or know what it means? Thanks, Chris Note - this does not occur when the motor is off.

Engine light at ~ 33,000 miles.

I can't recommend enough that you get an extended warranty from Lincoln. It will pay for itself one day. I bought my 2016 5 weeks ago and got the Premium Care warranty. Last week there was water in the headlight, dealer said it wasn't covered. I called Lincoln and they claimed it wasn't covered HOWEVER their literature shows it is. The next day they called and it's covered 100% no deductible. The headlight costs $1850, my warranty cost me $1800. You do the math, I'm already ahead of the game after only a month!
