BLIND SPOT LIGHT OUT ON DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, my 2016 MKX 3.7 Reserve with AWD, the  yellow light for the Blind Spot Monitoring has gone out. When moving forward and have a car come alongside me on the driver side the light is out so not sure if the light is actually out or if it is the sensor behind the left rear wheel that may need to be replaced. Does anyone know about this or had the same problem?  The BLIS light on the passenger side mirror still works when I have a vehicle on my right side approaching me from behind so the sensor on the right side must be working.

I have never experienced this issue with my MKX (or any other vehicle), but I'm wondering why your post did not mention any alert of a BLIS malfunction in your vehicle's information display. I assume that you inspected the sensor area for any debris or damage that could be influencing the BLIS function.

If there is dirt, mud or snow covering the radar panel, the BLIS will detect this and issue a warning in the message center such as BLIND SPOT NOT AVAILABLE or CROSS TRAFFIC NOT AVAILABLE.

If there is a message, the module on the passenger side is either blocked (snow, dirt?) or bad and needs to be replaced  (behind rear qtr panel). (Note that these modules are programmed to your VIN and will require (re)programming. I believe that replacing the mirror assy will also require calibrating the blis with the module as well).

l don't think that a failed LED Indicator will trigger this message, only the module itself. The LED may trigger a code however (don't know if it on the CAM bus or not. But I would suspect it is).
