2016 lincoln mkx motor sound behind dash

Recommended Posts

We had some unusually earlier weather changes here the last week or so, from mid to high 90's to 40's today.

My wife was driving her 16 mkx to work and said when she turned the heater on she noticed a loud fan/whirring type sound.

I rode with her after she got home and it only happens when the climate control is on.

Is this the blower motor going bad, is something stuck in it?

Sounds for sure like it is passenger side dash, behind glove box area.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Can you get to it by going through the radio compartment space?

I was mostly just wondering if that is what I was hearing?

Blower motor?

Curious. I posted that in a different forum and it showed up here.

The sound your hearing is most likely the squirrel cage fan rubbing against the bower housing. Or, the bearings are getting dry in the fan (mine does this about once a year. I just let it run and after a while - about 20 minutes last time - it gets some lubricant and goes quite again).

Changing a fan is easy. There are videos on YouTube.

When I decide I really need to change ill go with Motorcraft (only). None of thd cheap junk from China.
