MKX Battery Warranty?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2017 MKX with about 32500 miles. I had the car serviced today and on a "Multi-point inspection report," I see a section named "Declined Services." Under that heading, it reads during the Battery Capacity Test that the "battery tested bad" and needs to be serviced soon. I've been looking through all my documentation on what's covered and what's not. There's no mention of the battery anywhere except for instructions on how to replace it. I took delivery in Feb 2017, so my bumper to bumper warranty is still in effect. I know wear items like tires, wipers, etc are not covered by warranty but nowhere does anything say the battery isn't. So.... it begs the question of who warranties the battery?

Battery should be covered.  Check with the service mgr or try another dealership.

Back in May, my battery was completely dead on my '17.  So dead that the power steering was completely disabled,  I needed a tow to go literally 2 blocks to my Lincoln dealership across the street from where I work. Dealership did come over across the street to jump it though. What an ordeal! Waited 90 minutes for the tow as Lincoln Roadside Assistance did not call a local tow service.

If you ever have to use Roadside Assistance make sure the agent knows EXACTLY where you are

Lincoln paid for the tow and a new battery.

McC...How many miles on the '17 when the issue occurred? Do you do a lot of short term/mileage driving with infrequent long trips?

18 miles each way to work. Mix of highway included. ~30min. in morning, 30-40min commute home.  Car had about 25k miles when battery died in May.  Car was in for service just a few weeks prior for driver's side door replacement.  Battery tested fine on that service record.
