Rear replacement parts

Recommended Posts

I was rear ended right before Christmas and am still waiting for a replacement liftgate as well as other rear parts.  The order ship date isn't until late April (currently waiting since Jan 4th and its now Feb 12).  I am paying lease fees for an MKX that I can not drive for 5 months maybe longer (April is the first part, there are no ship dates for the remaining parts).  Is this really what I can expect from Lincoln when I purchase a new vehicle?? NO replacement parts??

Who is handling the repair, dealership or independent shop?

Independent shop.  The Dealership also quoted the same part availability time frame (tail lights will back ordered until JUNE) The best the dealership can do is a Lincoln rental instead of the auto repair shop rental.  Also should note this repair shop orders their parts direct from dealerships or factory.

...  The best the dealership can do is a Lincoln rental instead of the auto repair shop rental...

That would ease the pain.

I'm in a similar boat.  Had to fight with the insurance and their preferred rental company (Enterprise) for the loaner, their original "equivalent" was a Mitsubishi RVR...

Finally got a Durango R/T, a couple of option short (360 view and Suspension mode) but the 5.7 V8 Hemi (0-60 in 6.2 seconds) made up for it.

Since its a lease, you should involve your sale "person" and move up the chain.  Last year, I bought my wife a new mini and after I signed the contract they told me that there was an Airbag recall and it would be 2 months before they could delivered the car.  I e-mailed Mini Canada and the waiting time was cut in half.

Good luck and even if you decide that you would never buy another Ford/Lincoln again, don't let this get to you.

Thanks, I'll take your advice and move up a ladder.  I called the dealership today and ended the conversation with "so what you're telling me is tough s&%$ I'll have to wait". He laughed and said "In layman's terms that's what Ford is saying".

Why are YOU paying for the rental? When I was rear ended, I told the other insurance company that they would be furnishing me a rentail (I need a car for business) but would not make any demands of what they furnished. (I was a little, clown car that did 40 in the 1/2 mile, but it got me around, .... and THEY paid for it.

Their insurance is paying for the rental, (a bald tire van in a snow packed province) I'm mad that I still have to make my payments even though the car is non functional for longer than I have actually owned it! Not having replacement parts for over 5 months for a vehicle they sell is beyond ridiculous
