mfam16 Report post Posted August 1, 2016 I've tested the park assist in many scenarios. All ended in a failed attempt for both parallel and perpendicular. There park assist is a feature I really don't need but since it's a feature it would be nice if it worked. Any opinions or suggestions?
shoeguy Report post Posted August 1, 2016 I have park assist on my 16 reserve and use it to parallel park all the time with no issues, works beautifuly. Never have used it for perpendicular. Not sure what your failed attempts are. Shoe 1 Timmer reacted to this
mfam16 Report post Posted August 1, 2016 Failed attempts meaning I pull up to region in trying to park in then I activate feature and turn on blinker for side I'm attempting to park at. It will not recognize empty spots for either option. Once it thought it found a spot but if I accepted what the assist was trying to do I would have been parking right onto a median where no parking spot was even present. Cosmos36 Report post Posted August 1, 2016 Earlier, a forum member reported that his MKX sideswiped an adjacent parked vehicle when attempting a park assist entry into a diagonal space.

Adam Report post Posted August 1, 2016 Can the park assist be turned off and if so how is that accomplished? Park Assist is always off until called upon by pressing the button on the right side of the stack. If you are referring to the proximity sensors, they can be turned off by a button also located on the right side. I believe they default to on upon vehicle startup, however. elijahbird7 Report post Posted August 1, 2016 Only used it once to parallel park, but it worked perfectly. I pushed the button once several feet before I approached the space I intended to use. Once I had slowly pass by the space, and was a few feet past it, the system recognized the available space and gave instructions on the screen.
Rural_OC_MKX Report post Posted August 6, 2016 I also use the parallel park feature regularly without issue. The parking lot at work is 99% perpendicular parking with 1% parallel. Since the parallel parking is further away from the building it is typically used by the people who would rather avoid door dings.
mfam16 Report post Posted August 7, 2016 Wish I could say the same. I maybe get the car to correctly perpendicular park 25% of the time. Sometimes it will park diagonally into a perpendicular spot with 1/2 the rear of the car in a space and front end in the lane of traffic while showing successfully parked. Other times it would have backed into vehicle on the left had I not taken control of steering wheel. Another time it almost backed completely into a parked car had I not taken control again. Another time it had correct alignment and position but wanted to further adjust leaving car too far to the right and very close to neighboring car. I will have to make a visit with dealer to see if I'm having any sensor issues. 2 Timmer and VisionPilot reacted to this

rst08tierney Report post Posted August 9, 2016 Received a very promising call from Lincoln wanting to resolve my problems and address getting me a new vehicle. Waaaay to positive for a first call. Have a feeling most of it was scripted. Definitely not holding my breath but it gave me a glimmer of hope things might actually get taken care of to my liking. 1 Timmer reacted to this
VisionPilot Report post Posted August 9, 2016 Does anyone know how the perpendicular park assist is supposed to work? Does it pull you in nose first, or back you in? Can you activate it after you have found your own spot (and have moved just passed it) ? Thanks
fredluke Report post Posted August 9, 2016 I used it once and it backed me in perfectly. Drive slowly past the spot and it will do the rest. 1 VisionPilot reacted to this
mtmtmt Report post Posted August 9, 2016 I have used it many times and it has worked 100% of the time. I use parallel parking 9 out of 10 times, but use perpendicular parking sometimes. I have never used the function to get out of a parking space, but I'll give that a try too. 1 VisionPilot reacted to this

mfam16 Report post Posted August 16, 2016 Were you within 4.9 feet of parked cars? The manual says you have to be that distance, hard to tell on the video. I thought I was but never got out and measured. I did make another video prior to the one I posted. Which I also sent to dealer. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2x0r6eblirx5iln/VID_20160813_090844~2.mp4?dl=0 And this one which dealer also received. https://www.dropbox.com/s/22spyzt1xhup4bd/VID_20160813_091137.mp4?dl=0 Dropped off vehicle this morning at 8am but they didn't get to my vehicle. Guess I'll find out tomorrow what they think.
VisionPilot Report post Posted August 16, 2016 Somewhat unrelated question, when you bring your Lincoln in for service, do you automatically get a loaner, or do you have to coordinate that ahead of time with each dealer? In other words, is it one of the "perks" of owning a Lincoln?
mfam16 Report post Posted August 16, 2016 Somewhat unrelated question, when you bring your Lincoln in for service, do you automatically get a loaner, or do you have to coordinate that ahead of time with each dealer? In other words, is it one of the "perks" of owning a Lincoln? When I attempted to drop it off on Saturday they offered a loaner via enterprise car rental. However, enterprise is only there M-F. So I schedule to drop it off at 8am on Monday. Since I made an appointment I'm a bit frustrated that no one looked at my vehicle. We have never had this issue with our other vehicles from Buick and Chevy. They never needed an appointment and our vehicles were serviced same day, actually within an hour or two. On Buick it was to replace faulty infotainment center and on Chevy it was to replace faulty headlamp assembly. In those cases we also received loaners. Either way I will hopefully find out something today and maybe they didn't get to it due to the many issues I have. Other issues are: 1) messages to "check headlamp system see manual" 2) popping sound from sunroof after it rains. I made a video of that for dealer as well but it doesn't really depict fully how bad the"popping" sounds are https://www.dropbox.com/s/0stwzcdoeoipsvf/VID_20160807_092446~2.mp4?dl=

akirby Report post Posted August 16, 2016 It's up to the dealer whether they have loaners or they use a rental company. I think Lincoln requires a Lincoln vehicle either way.
mfam16 Report post Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) The turn signal is suppose to be on and I couldn't tell from the video if it was. I was looking at the dash shot and didn't see that the signal was activated. Was it? The signal doesn't need to be on for duration of searching for a spot. It is only needed to tell the car which side to search on. I've tried both with it on for entirety and just to indicate the side I'm attempting to find a spot. In the videos I made the signal wasn't on for duration of search. Edited August 16, 2016 by mfam16

I was looking at the dash shot and didn't see that the signal was activated. Was it? I should have clarified that my MKX is on order but in the 24 hour test drive the salesman had me test the parking assist and said the signal should be left on, both to continue the search and keep cars from the rear know your intent. The on-line Manual doesn't specify that the signal should be left on but when I tested it 4 times it always parked perfectly following his directions for activation. Makes sense that the signal doesn't need to be on continually. Per my last reply it worked for me but sounds like you must have a sensor issue???
