Waze News for Sync 3

https://www.engadget...rd-sync-3-cars/

In 2016, Ford wisely decided to offer Apple's CarPlay and Android Auto on all its Sync 3 infotainment system-equipped 2017 vehicles, and owners are seeing more benefits from that at CES 2018. Ford announced that it now supports Waze's traffic and navigation app directly from your iPhone. After you plug it into any of the vehicle's USB ports, the app will appear on the Sync 3 touchscreen, letting you control it from there or use voice commands.

From the article

It also unveiled Alexa support at CES 2018, giving you voice-controlled music, news and 25,000 other skills. It's odd that the automaker didn't mention Waze Android support, since Google owns both Android and Waze, but we've reached out for more info.

This is WITHOUT using CarPlay/Android Auto, this is a Ford Applink application... Please read the articles for more details. ;)

“Our goal is to bring a human-centered approach to technology in the vehicle, making it as easy as possible for people to integrate the tools that matter most to them,” said Don Butler, Ford executive director, Connected Vehicle and Services. “With the flexibility of our SYNC 3 software and AppLink, customers can easily use Waze to get all the traffic and navigation help they need – on a big screen and without having to fiddle around with their phones while driving.”

This we already had.

As far as adding Waze to sync apps that is freaking bonkers...i love this car.  To bad google assistant is not integrated as well hard to move away from Android auto but nice to know there is an option.

Anybody got it to work on sync 2.2 or 3.0 (the beta or whatever)

Ha...apple.

Waze News for Sync 3

Thanks Punch-Card.  My Waze/AA connectivity is still disabling PROMPT volume.  Not sure, but it may be happening only when music (Spotify, Pandora, etc.) is played with Waze already running...

My MKX is CarPlay compatible as well.  I'll try Waze through my iPhone and see what happens...

Timmer,

It is not available yet, just announced at CES, and I would imagine it would be at least couple of months before it is live and that is only on Sync 3 V3.0, and it sounds like with version 2.3 (guess) or newer, and it would be available at a later date. (note: that is a lot of read between the lines... in other word a guess B) )

I'm running v3.0 and saw Waze update same day it was announced might be coincidence.  Will try tomorrow if i ever get out for effing Newark.

It doesn't. It works from within Android Auto running on your Samsung. The above will let waze be an option in sync without android auto or Carplay using Ford's applink. That means you can run waze and still have access to the car features without clunky going back and forth.

Most of the articles mention that feature being dependent on an iPhone, which is why the above poster wanted to know about android.

I can confirm that with sync 3.0 it doesn't yet work.
